Ooooh - choppers in the snow.  Reminds me of my first ever visit to Toton.  Snow on the ground and the canal was frozen solid.

No new Scottish types for me just yet.  The funds were diverted to a blue fye Hymek after considering an syp one.

I take it you're a driver with the blue team then Stu?

Nice shot Marcus,

Do they get much work? I have only see pics of they working the new underground stock.

Best I can do is a Banger blue pair on a Derby- Llanbourne passenger turn.

Cheers Peter.

Hi Peter,

Not looked in on Llanbourne for a short while but I'm glad I just have..... what a treat!!!  20's and 40's galore.  Utterly stunning, I can't even pick a favourite out as all your pictures are just stunning and capture the era so well.

Thanks once again for posting some superb photos.

Cheers

Not a new release - I found somewhere with D7070 still in stock from a few years back.  If it turns up with brass wheels I also have some Howes replacements ready and waiting.

Thanks Lee,

Glad you like the EE traction.

I am sure there was something in your post re 20045. I had a look at my slide list and didn't find any prints of 045. There are some nice pics on Flickr if you type in 20045 in the search section.

Cheers Peter.

Oh nice, the brass wheels are a bit crap so it's good you can get replacements. I am sure we will see pics soon.

Cheers Peter.

Hi Peter,

Yes, I did initially ask if you had photos of 20045, but then thought it was a bit cheeky of me asking :umbrage:    ... so I removed it.   Thank you for replying though and I already have the pics noted from Flickr.  I'm just trying to find where the steam heat thro' pipe went on the buffer beam when the loco was allocated to ED.

Many thanks for your reply and please keep those EE traction pics coming :)

Cheers

Hi Lee,

Not cheeky at all, I have quite a few slides which I am slowly loading onto my Flickr site and if they are of use to someone then all the better.

Now I didn't know that any class 20s had a steam heat thro pipe fitted  but looking at a few pics I see they were used paired with a class 37 on passenger work in the West Highlands. I am guessing their were only a few 20s fitted with this and from the pics I have seen removed by the mid 80's.

Are you planning on modelling this loco?

Cheers Peter.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the reply.  I think there were a handful of ED allocated 20's that had the same thro' steam heat pipe fit.  I recall travelling up to Mallaig with at least three 20's paired with 37's and not freezing to death!!

A couple more from the other day.

47535 arrives on a service from Crewe. 47515 removes a van from the rear of the train then works the train on the Holyhead.

25059 arrives at Llanbourne South Yard with the daily trip from Holyhead and pick ups a few HEA coal wagons. 25059 then departs to Llanbourne where it pushes back onto some TEAs from the fuel point 25059 then pulls forward and  runs round and picks up some empty VGAs from the Town Yard and then goes back into it's train ready to depart as the daily Speedlink from Llanbourne to Warrington.

47535 ticks over in the middle road waiting to work a return service to Crewe.

20169 and 121 wait in platform 3 to depart to Derby.

The last pic shows a few loco's on shed. I really need to actually build the shed one day.

Cheers Peter.

I'm afraid have have caught the O gauge bug again :(

Nice, presume you have a Heljan beastie then. I won't mention I have a Heljan class 37 and class 26 sat under Llanbourne. Been very tempted to get a Dogfish and Catfish too.

Good luck with your project make sure you start a thread when you get started.

Cheers Peter.

Nooooooo

I shall create a thread once I get going.... and I've also promised myself that I will finish another thread too :D

I really do need to find a pic of one of the ED steam heat fitted 20's though.... hopefully someone will read your thread and may be able to help  :scratchhead:

When are you next over in blighty and able to sample some EE traction?

Cheers

Lee

If not a Heljan a JLTRT kit?

Ok my old 1983 Platform 5 spotter books tells me 20045 and 20085 were vp  Vac brake through steam piped. One pic I found of 085 shows a hole just below the Air brake pipe, so would guess thats where it would have been and probably removed when in works being fitted with air brakes.

Cheers Peter.
