RMweb Gold Ramblin Rich Posted July 12, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 12, 2011 Between Ardwick le Street & Stainforth Next one: Despite appearances, this is very much within a conurbation area. The next station to the north west opened in 1990 but the route itself dates back to 1837.
RMweb Premium dagrizz Posted July 13, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 13, 2011 It's the Tame Valley near Brum. The map says the Motorway is the M6, but it's the northern bit of the M5 just before it joins the M6.
RMweb Premium dagrizz Posted July 13, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 13, 2011 Despite being nice and straight, this is a secondary line.

Bulleidboy
It's probably no surprise to learn that we are in a conurbation - I think there are only 7 possible locations for you to check.

RMweb Premium dagrizz Posted July 20, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 20, 2011 The footpath/cycleway in the SW corner of the square is an old railway line, which was owned by a different pre-grouping company to that which owned the main line. After the grouping, they were merged into the bigger company and made very uneasy bedfellows.
Bulleidboy
The south-east suburbs of Market Harborough on the old Midland mainline (the cycleway is part of the old LNWR): Next one; which despite the lack of anything much in the square is also on a mainline:

RMweb Premium dagrizz Posted July 27, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 27, 2011 This is a main line and despite appearances (again) the general direction of the main line is not NE-SW at all. At the junction a branch peels off NE to a solitary terminus station. Finally, a model of this location has been on the exhibition circuit in recent years. Bulleidboy
Thanks for the clue - I was mistakenly looking for a reversal station! Anyway, it's Drem on the ECML: Watch out for the next one later today.
