Garethp8873
I've recently purchased a Bachmann LMS/BR 2MT Ivatt with the intention of refurbishing as LMS example 1202. Before I go and start doing the re-livery, I want to confirm two things. 1. Lettering, would the HMRS "LMS block styles & Crewe straw loco and coach insignia" be correct? 2. Smokebox door and plates... does anyone know where if I can get custom made smokebox/workplates door plates at all? I cannot seem to find these for the LMS examples only the BR ones. Garethp8873. Steamport Southport
Yes. The post 1946 block style for the lettering. 247 Developments do custom plates. But he already has 1202 listed. https://www.247developments.co.uk/LMS_NUMBERS.html Not 1202, but 1209 pictured here. https://www.semaphoresandsteam.com/p366211202/h2B6AD6C8#h2b6ad6c8 Jason 1

Pacific Models may be of help for the smokebox numberplate: http://www.pacificmodels.co.uk/custom-sheets/lms-2-3-4-5-digit Narrow Planet may be able to do the works plate. https://shop.narrowplanet.co.uk/collections/custom-etched-products/products/npp-292 Hope that helps. Garethp8873
Question guys, would the LMS Ivatts have had polished steel cylinder end covers or all black in their LMS days?
Steamport Southport
Polished I think, the first one definitely did. But I doubt it was for long! This one is pretty new and looks like the front cylinder end is polished. Looks more so in a higher definition photograph in the link. Wiki - Ben Brooksbank https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Willesden_Locomotive_Depot_new_LMS_Ivatt_3MT_2-6-2T_geograph-2818764-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg I was looking at photos of the LMS built ones the other day. Three more here. https://www.rail-online.co.uk/p1005521121/edfc51100 Jason Edited August 29, 2020 by Steamport Southport
Garethp8873
The work on converting a BR Ivatt to a LMS example has begun. However we have hit a slight snag. We are unsure as to which sized decals to use on the model. Looking at the DJH model they seem to use the smaller decals. Any help please!
Steamport Southport
I'll have a look in the Essery/Jenkinson book tomorrow if I remember. All the details of number size, etc. is in that. Jason

What I now require is somewhere to that does the Shed Allocation code and the SC lettering that goes underneath the SAC.
