Administrators AY Mod Posted March 30, 2020 Administrators Share Posted March 30, 2020 Â As modellers run out of excuses to put off getting some modelling done with more time at home than we were anticipating it would be great to see what modellers are achieving. We'd like to select some of the best content to include in our weekly newsletters, BRM magazine and our World of Railways website. Projects on your workbench, scenes from your layouts or some light-hearted activities would be great to see within this topic. RMweb Gold ruggedpeak Posted April 3, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 3, 2020 Getting a garden railway up and running using recycled decking and other items in my garage (plus 50 yards of Peco track delivered by John Dutfields in Chelsmford during lockdown). It won't win any modelling or carpentry awards but still got all my fingers so far.... Â https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11309616/dont-do-gardening-diy-jobs-during-coronavirus-lockdown/ Â Avoiding the more dangerous power tools as I don't want to go to A&E if I don't have too! Â Started a thread. The key goal is to build something using what is too hand as shopping is not possible and save money. I want to be able to run full length OO gauge trains, which I can't do on my current layout. Day 2 of the build, treating the decking with fence treatment having built the loop for the far end. RMweb Premium Kris Posted April 3, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 3, 2020 (edited) SI, I assume could also stand for swearing induction. I have certainly been induced to swear over the past few days with my modelling activities. Having exceeded the potential of Tinkercad (I had a sense of humour failure after adding in over 3000 rivets to a model only to find it would not export). Since then I have been trying to learn Fusion 360, sweary moments have abounded. I'm slowly getting there, very slowly.  Edit - We're getting somewhere. RMweb Gold Rowsley17D Posted April 3, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 3, 2020 My layout and all modelling equipment is at our own home but before lock-down in the clergy house I got out a number of goods wagon "that I would get round to repairing one day," part and unbuilt kits, a fist full of tools and paints put into the car and brought to the work home.  First up a MR 8T high-side wagon to D299. It's a Slaters' kit repackaged by Cooper Craft (remember them?)

Popular Post ianmacc
Inspired by the likes of quicksilver coaches etc of this forum I have wanted somewhere to display a collection of 00 road vehicles so this was the opportunity to do so.  A long thin off cut of MDF. Road markings and street furniture free downloads from the Wordsworth Model Railway website. Buildings are a mixture of spare superquick and metcalfe. Additional buildings including Arkwrights and the rovers return pub are the free download samples from the kingsway models store. Finished off with a few spare architectural figures.  Will also give me something to look at from my temporary home office table!  it’s amazing what is available free online.

Ferry vehicles are the great neglected area of wagon modelling. The general lack of readily available information may have something to do with it.  David 1

I’ve built quite a few Ferry vehicles over the last few years and have plans for a few more.  I use the BR diagram books from the Barrowmore website along with as many photos as I can find in order to build them.  Cheers  Paul

RMweb Gold Popular Post Dagworth Posted April 3, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 3, 2020 I started this a couple of days before the lockdown started. Class 310 scratch built from plasticard. Even the power bogie is hand built using gears from a surplus Vi-Trains 37 bogie. 310 alongside my 304 that is also under construction.  Andi 22 57

April 1966 coming home from North Wales the penultimate train was a brand new AM10, I still recall the newness smell of the unit. The ride was good, it felt the new railway age was with us. Then reality kicked in, the last train was a shake rattle and roll Cravens between Bletchley and Bedford.  Steam, diesel and electrics at Crewe on the way home, I didn't start trainspotting until August that year. Fortunately I had the foresight to buy card from my local art shop before the lock-down.  http://bedsarchives.bedford.gov.uk/CommunityArchives/Chalton(Mogerhanger)/SouthMills.aspx
Popular Post Jinty3f
Three weeks in now. Both of us  aged 69, me in pretty good health, but wife has high blood pressure. This is my first attempt at a kit, the Sevenscal Pug. I didn’t have enough courage to attempt soldering white metal, so used  Araldite and CA.  The kit has evolved from the original etched chassis / open motor  to a bolt together chassis with a Mashima 1833, which requires one end of the motor to be cut off to fit inside the body. It works very nicely under tests, but looking at the pics, it is going to need a really good clean up before painting,  and I confidently expect bits to fall off during the process  Still, plenty of time  to do it. 23
