Given that at least one (non-Dapol?) photo of a production batch model has been posted in this thread prior to that, one is left to wonder what, or if, QC inspections took place prior to distribution. The issues of errors on the part of the manufactures - some more than others; and the ease of remedying them by the purchaser, are not mutually exclusive. The former should not happen - but do; the latter depends upon whether one is a box-opener or a modeller. I have remedied errors on numerous models over the past sixty years - I shouldn't have had to do it, but I didn't regard the task as a "tedious faff". Butler Henderson
Depending on how the lining has been applied it may be simple to remove that on the fenders, some models are easily removed of lining and lettering using enamel thinners.
SteamingWales
Anyone know where to source a spare smokebox door from for these models? Nothing on the Dapol website, dcc supplies or peter's spares It isn't a replacement but for a build project so could I get away with a Mogul door? B15nac
I see the next batch is hopefully here in September. Does the DCC sound version run also on DC? I see they have sorted the tender lining out on Bradley manor which is good news Regards Neil

Arrival of 7802 may well coincide with the return of the real thing to service.

I know what you mean but I believe 7802 is going back into service with a rebuilt 'standard' Manor tender although forthcoming Dapol model represents the loco in BR service so the smaller tender is correct anyway. Kind regards Neil For the Dapol Manor I suggest: Locoman Manor sound project on an ESU Loksound V5 Micro NEXT18 decoder with an 8Ohm sugar cube speaker in the smokebox (should be supplied with the decoder) and a 40*20*9 8Ohm speaker in the tender. I would like to recommend one of the new ESU speakers for the tender but they might be too tall - I know that the Zimo Dumbo 40*20*9 fits exactly. It's always a good idea to give the sound from the speaker in the tender a clear path out. That requires more modification of the tender but it's worth it, IMHO.

atom3624
Those little 'touch-ups' have made a huge difference. A very well designed and finished, but obviously a model now looks much more realistic. For me there's still a mismatch with the crosshead / piston rod in the cylinder block slider. Al.

I thought the Dapol GWR green was fine to begin with (in fact I'd have preferred it if they'd used the same shade for the BR version as it looked better than they used on the latter for batch 1!) Fredo
Hi, the model I intend to get is 7817 as this was one of the Manors that worked on the GWR mainliner as opposed to the Cambrian. Thanks Fred
