RMweb Premium Hilux5972 Posted January 12, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 12, 2020 I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but interesting to see that we have now reached 5 digit product codes with the APT coach packs into the R40000’s.

I'd argue it would be in the same category as the Drax and Tata ones in being a "celeb" (if that's a thing with 60s) I suppose with a bit of work it could be taken back to base red though? I didn't mind paying full price and it's interesting to try a magazine I don't buy very often. Still, I do think making the catalogue available in branches of Smiths and Tesco is a very clever move. It makes it vastly more accessible and easy for people to just 'pick up a copy' as an impulse purchase. Even with extra branding, 60007 is DB red as per Danny's post. It adds further weight to the fact that Hornby have done/are doing four red 60s that have names that make it more difficult to simply renumber and add another name if required.

I suppose ‘dowlow’ would be the easiest to rename with its short nameplate? annoyingly of the 4 Hornby have produced I’ve driven 3 of them but don’t have any of them for my layout! I do think yet have missed a trick with not doing a GBRf one and redoing a colas one

I've forgotten when the GBRf liveried Class 60 made it's debut, but I know that the annual ranges are finalized in June/July. However Hornby have now gotten into the habit of announcing a small mid-year range. We might see quite a few things announced. The mid-year range normally includes last minute items that have found production slots.

While there is that, The Avanti liveried Pendolino has to be a surprise inclusion given it's livery was only released on the 9th of December, whereas the GBRf livery was unveiled on the 60 as far back as September 2018. Hopefully a GB liveried 60 will be an inclusion in the "Mid Year" announcement. Just checked, it was September 2018. It's great for 'dipping in' to magazines I wouldn't normally buy seeking out interesting articles here and there. Plus SWMBO gets to read all sorts of stuff she likes as part of the same subscription.

Avanti West Coast may also be a TOC that is quite supportive. Edited January 12, 2020 by MGR Hooper!

Pet hate of mine- I prefer a bog standard un-named one, and if the model is a bog standard un-named one its easy to name it whilst renumbering it, whereas its a pain to have to try and remove a name from a brand new model.

Same happened to me last year and I paid the full price. This time I abandoned the transaction at the auto tills and insisted on the discount at the staffed till. The exasperated staff member had to put it through manually whilst a huge queue was building up. I was not the first to claim the deal that day, so why don't they get it fixed? I assume Key Publishing have actually mentioned this deal to Smiths?
caradoc
I was in WHS in Paisley last Thursday and again, while they had both the magazine and catalogue, next to each other, there was no mention of the combined offer. I was not prepared to waste time queuing for the staffed till and then having to convince them of the discount. It is a great offer but really has to be organised better on the 'shop floor'.
Steamport Southport
It was clearly labelled in the Liverpool One store as was the Airfix catalogue with magazine. Didn't buy it there though.
