RMweb Premium kevinlms Posted January 7, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 7, 2020 (edited) Just had an ad on a page and clicked away, then realised what the title was. It was 'Obscene Vintage Photos' or similar. Damn, missed out on that one! Edited January 7, 2020 by kevinlms Removed extra word.

Ian Abel
The latest in my strange connections... I suppose "Train"ing is somehow where this arrives from Then again, if these two are delivered for FREE I could VERY DEFINATELY be convinced to start a training regimen, the Mrs may decide otherwise however
Steamport Southport
I've not seen the girls on those adverts. I kept getting butch blokes. Now I'm getting this one. I don't want one that is capable of running away. Jason

RMweb Premium John Isherwood Posted January 9, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 9, 2020 How do I pre-order this one? Seriously though - what on earth is the point of sending this kind of advertising to a 70+ male railway modeller? (Other than trying to give him a heart attack - which hopefully won't happen as I have a pacemaker)! Regards, John Isherwood.
gordon s
I saw that one as well. Thought it was an advert for a David Attenborough wild life programme based on the Arctic......

RMweb Premium Compound2632 Posted January 10, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 10, 2020 The advertising algorithms no doubt originate with the same people who thought that what Marks & Spencer's customers really needed was more skinny jeans...
RMweb Premium Mike Bellamy Posted January 10, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 10, 2020 Have you seen the people who go into Marks and Spencer's - including me - the last time I was 'skinny' was 40 years ago !!

I had a brief sight this morning of a site offering beautiful Ukranian women, that apparently prefer men over 45. Couldn't investigate further as I had already clicked, and was then offered a cruise. Slightly more my in line.

Quite so. RMweb Premium melmerby Posted January 10, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 10, 2020 I don't have an adblocker on but do have a malicious script blocker, which seems to treat the Google ads as malicious and removes them, so I don't see any of them. I do get them on my Android devices though.

Gareth Collier
All my ads are for female clothing/underwear from Rotita(?) and Asian dating sites! As I've never shown any interest in either I'd love to know how the algorithms work to decide what ads to show.
RMweb Premium t-b-g Posted January 12, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 12, 2020 It is astonishing just what the advert people know. An hour after I ordered some batteries from CPC I got an advert for exactly the same batteries (pointless as I had already bought them!) and a day after I got a letter from a place I used to work telling me that I was coming up to pension age, I got an advert for a retirement home complex in the same small town where I live. They do know a lot about us out there in internet land.

I checked a pub menu earlier today, going directly to the website and when I went on line just now Trip Advisor is asking me if I have been there recently. Retirement homes seem to target me on a regular basis. I wonder what they know about SWMBO and her life expectancy that I don't. Just wait until Alexa takes over giving out such advice and working as a financial advisor. They know more than you think, but are not letting on - yet. gordon s
OK, enough is enough.....I have no idea what I've done to deserve this, but this young lady advertising clothing is extremely distracting. What do I need to do to stop this ad appearing? If you can't stop it, what can you do to make it part of my desktop? It took me 87 screen refreshes to find it again....... 1 3
