paul 27
Purchased a used 21 pin model with noisy motor, how do you remove the metal casing around the motor, I don't have an instruction sheet with it.
34theletterbetweenB&D
You don't, unless you want to terminally wreck the motor. The can is the motor frame with the magnets and a motor bearing in it, and the mounting for the plastic subframe which holds the brush assemblies and a motor bearing. If you want to look inside, typically releasing and removing the plastic subframe from the can with the armature still located in it to avoid having to reassemble the brushes, is the way to start. There are no instruction sheets for such motors as they are regarded as 'not user-serviceable'. A worm puller is the vital tool to get started (Eileen's Emporium and similar suppliers). paul 27
Thanks for the replies yes its the metal block the motor is mounted to, once the bogies are out how do you remove the metal block I don't want to strip the motor down, just replace it. I have the Class 25 sheet but mine is for the 8 pin is this the same sheet as the 21 pin. Edited November 29, 2019 by paul 27
34theletterbetweenB&D
It will be clear enough when you have the body off and have released the bogies, look at the underside and you will see four screws above where the bogies were, that secure the plastic underside to the metal block casting. The class 25 sheet should suffice: the actual chassis and mechanism is the same, although the PCB will differ.
paul 27
So the motor part number is the same for both 21 pin and 8 pin models.
