Les Bird
Can anyone suggest a supplier of miniature two pin plugs and sockets? I want to connect tender pickups to a number of locomotives without permanent connections.

Simon G
There are plenty around. A while back I bought about 20 sets of wired plugs and sockets for the same purpose. I have used them to provide extra pickups in DMUs, and also in trucks to connect to smaller steam locos which otherwise have a tendency to stall on insulfrog points. Well worth the minimal expense incurred.
RMweb Gold ianLMS Posted November 8, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 8, 2019 I get mine from Ebay, designed for DCC connections between the chip in the tender and the motor. They do 4 wire and 2 wire versions with white connectors which can easily be painted. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F264282032223 Ian

RMweb Premium decauville1126 Posted November 8, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 8, 2019 I use JST 1.25mm connectors on 4mm, 7mm, and 16mm scale locos as standard. Dirt cheap to buy from China. I plug motors, rc receivers, batteries, etc. They are nice and tiny, with the pins just 1.25mm apart. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20-Pairs-Micro-JST-1-25-2-Pin-3-Pin-Male-Female-Connector-Plug-Wires-Cables/272978192269?hash=item3f8ec4a78d:m:mQTBIoDRYCwYNZEo-Ah46nA
RMweb Gold RedgateModels Posted November 8, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 8, 2019 (edited) I make my own using 0.1" SIL socket strips, you can just see one end that I've made on the tender below With care wires can be soldered into the socket holes as above and the other end wires are soldered to the pins and insulated with some fine heat shrink. Caut the strips into as many ways as you need 🙂 Edited July 13, 2022 by RedgateModels

I use these :- https://miniatronics.com/products/2-pin-micro-mini-connector-with-12-flexible-leads-2-units?_pos=1&_sid=d3434e454&_ss=r exclusively for loco / tender connections. I doubt that you will find anything smaller, and they can be obtained from https://www.coastaldcc.co.uk/search.php?search=miniatronics ; (note that the pack contains two pairs).
