Steve The TT one is all black and white, mostly green era with some blue, white/blue and blue/grey and one Network SouthEast. Covers all the main types including the BUT 4-wheelers but not railbuses. There are some rare shots, such as a makeshift 3-car Derby Heavyweight (later class 114) and an early Swindon Inter-City unit at Wick when they were tested on the Far North lines in the early 1970s. Some appear to be BR official shots but most are not and I don't think I have seen the vast majority of the images previously. The front cover shot is also interesting because it's uncommon to see photos of Pressed Steel 117s on the GW&GC Joint. I suspect the service shown leaving High Wycombe is a legacy of the fact that the original route was GWR via Bourne End to Aylesbury. 1 1 1
Trade Member Strathwood Posted September 25, 2021 Author Trade Member Share Posted September 25, 2021 Yes both very good and in stock, the Transport Treasury offering benefits from older images although as such it is black & white, whereas the latest one from Irwell/Mortons covers a wider era from the early days through into very much into the blue period. I am at pains to say neither are our titles but as a well known mail order outlet we do carry large stocks certainly of the latest one which is highly recommended and I wish we had access to some of the images when I put both the volumes of Looking back at DMUs together a few years ago. https://strathwood.co.uk/products/first-generation-diesel-multiple-units-a-pictorial-observation So a top recommendation from me and good value too at £12.99. Stortman
Great to see Simon Martin's amazing research in printed form. This may well be the definitive work on Thompson. Presented to the Gresley Society and he was applauded!

There was an SO through train from Paddlngton to Atylesbury via the Wycombe branch which left Wycombe at 14.22 (1958 TT) although the times might have changed slightly once it was dieselised. It had gone by the early 1960s presumably once teh Marylebone service had been fully dieselised and the timetables reviewed in consequence.

Saturday lunchtime in those days saw a bit of a commuter peak - many office wallahs worked Saturday mornings then. It is beginning to look like almost all of them on both titles after just a couple of days of pre-orders, if this pace keeps up all the way to December that will be the case. It was like this on the Somerset & Dorset book recently from Irwell Press, although this is my decision as this one is a Strathwood title, and we will not be doing a reprint if it does sell out really quick. Instead we will be releasing the next two titles in the production line STEAM'S LAMENT Stanier & Ivatt Pacifics and Sixties Diesel & Electric Days VII during January. By the way we have another two titles lined up for February too. Kevin
RMweb Premium Simon Lee Posted September 29, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 29, 2021 As you no longer sell to those of us living in the EU will you be making copies available to 3rd party booksellers who still do ?
Trade Member Strathwood Posted October 1, 2021 Author Trade Member Share Posted October 1, 2021 Hooray we are back online with RM Web, hence the delay in answering your question Simon, which is yes of course we do sell to the trade and I am sure that your favoured outlet will be able to oblige. Our curtailment of sales into Europe only will I am sure be lifted by ourselves once matters settle down again once the paperwork and EU VAT issues have calmed down and everyone has grown used to them. Meanwhile we have bowed out of sales into the European Union only. We still supply to the rest of the world as one customer in Australia found last month as he received his order inside 7 days, to prove it can be done when all the planets align with the couriers after all. Trade Member Strathwood Posted October 5, 2021 Author Trade Member Share Posted October 5, 2021 (edited) Another heads up as these Irwell Press titles are already out of print with the publishers, however we have almost sold out too ourselves on these three from the very popular Pannier Papers & Prairie Papers series. The PANNIER PAPERS No.5 16XX £11.95 we have just 3 left. https://strathwood.co.uk/products/the-pannier-papers-no5-16xx-last-few-copies?_pos=1&_psq=pannie&_ss=e&_v=1.0 The PANNIER PAPERS No.6 1366, 15XX £15.95 we have just 10 left. https://strathwood.co.uk/products/the-pannier-papers-no6-1366-15xx-last-few-copies?_pos=2&_psq=pannier&_ss=e&_v=1.0 The Prairie Papers : No. 2 6100,3100, 8100s £13.95 we have just 5 left. https://strathwood.co.uk/products/the-prairie-papers-no-2-61003100-8100s-last-few-copies?_pos=1&_psq=prairie&_ss=e&_v=1.0 Once these have gone that leaves just low stocks on Pannier Papers No. 2, 3 & 4 remaining all the others in both series have already gone out of print and are no longer available. This gives those with ideas towards further detailing their models of these popular prototypes with perhaps a last chance if you are quick for some valuable reference material.
