spackz
Ben@61661 I know you probably can't divulge any plans but has the class 44 been considered? Seems to be the only prototype now not being reworked, the Bachmann version now looks tired and rarely re-released. Without wish-listing and seeing some suggestions for a Class 46. How easy would it be for Heljan to back date to a Class 44? TMC have commissioned the earliest Class 45 so must be some similarities. It's simply because we haven't had any updates from the factory, so there's been nothing new to say. A combination of Covid, Christmas, Chinese New Year and a backlog at the factory due to many production line staff not returning after lockdown has slowed everything down (and not just for Heljan). However, I have been assured that the next batch of Class 45 samples is expected to arrive for review next month, so hopefully we'll have something new to say then. Thanks for your patience. A 47, especially a Scottish one off a Glasgow-Nottingham, was a special treat! Still have to have one though!

Compare with: The model shows timken axle boxes whereas the 106 appears to have skf axle boxes apart from the speedo drive which afaik was always a timken Bit of a minefield for Heljan as a lot of peaks had a mixture of the two. lyneux
Just been looking at prototype photos prompted by your post. Yes, what a minefield! Lots of peaks in preservation with a mixture of the two. Still, the Timken SKF boxes are quite distinctive with their bolt pattern. The bolts seem to be missing from the Heljan moulding. Guy The timken axle box with its 4 studs The SKF box with its 5 small bolts. The SKF cover is a much much lighter construction, whereas the timken cover is a very heavy casting, also note the different shaped axle box on the SKF bearing. 2

Yes it all boils down to business and corporate profit even in Toy Train Land. I would be prepared (and am) to pay extra for something UK produced. Just to mention nothing Sinophobic in any way including the events of the last 15 months. As regards the 45 - no real rush Ben.
