Some lovely cars there, a totally eclectic mix!

I think the 'something' with the Supra is a Quantum kit car? Can't remember what it was based on though.

What was the story with the SWB Quattro? Was it a replica? Looks nice whatever!

I think the 'Alfa' is a Fiat Dino Coupe? Beautiful car - from the same company that bought you the Multipla!!

I love shows like this where there is 'something for everyone'!

There was no one about to ask about the Audi unfortunately

on closer inspection of the Alfa it is indeed a Fiat so your probably right on what it is

Went to a classic and performance car show near Penrith today on my way home from a weekend in silloth, didn’t know what to expect, we got there quite late on with a couple of hours left so there were a few empty spaces where cars had left but it was still a really good show with plenty to see, this is a bit of a picture heavy thread!

This was in the car parking area

Electric 106 😳 why??

Peugeot built some (and the equivalent Citroen Saxo).

When I worked in Belgium there was a road safety day at work, part of which was a short low speed course, including parking. This used a few electric 106 and Saxo. So I have driven one, although I can't remember which one!

All the best

Peugeot had some running round the F1 paddock at lunchtime at an F1 test at Silverstone  in about 1994 ish  probably  with Mclaren  possibly  later with Jordan ,cant remember the date  .The main thing I remember was  how quiet they were .Easy  to get run over.

Some photos from todays Cars & Coffee event in Leighton buzzard. Originally due to be held in Pages Park next to the narrow gauge railway but moved around the corner due to the weather. A smaller event with perhaps 30 cars is held monthly but today was their annual larger charity fund raiser. It always has a great vibe where you see a Ferrari Enzo parked next to Peugeot 107, no snobbery, and great to chat with other enthusiasts.

Dom had his renewal through for the BMW at £3150 so I told him to shop round, the next cheapest was £2200 with a black box which he didn’t want so I got a quote from A-Plan who I’m insured with and they came back at £5700! (For a car worth £1200) but fair dos the bloke couldn’t apologise enough and agreed it was a joke!

dom rang his current insurer back about his renewal asking if he could get anything off it, gave them the quote me happy quote also explaining it was a telematics policy and they then came back with a renewal price of £2700, so £450 off just like that, when she went through the excess’ she said the policy had an compulsory excess of £145 and Dom’s voluntarily excess was £100 so I asked her to put it up to £400 and it dropped it again to £2500 so he went with that, the way I see it with a car worth £1200 if something happens (with no one else involved) then it’s probably as easy to scrap it or fix ourselves!

so from one phone call he got himself over £600 off the renewal price, it did go up a bit when he changed it from a one off payment to monthly though but not by too much

And this is why do many people do not bother with insurance.

Cheaper to risk it.

But it's those people who cause the premiums to be as high as they are, the rest of us have to pay for their "savings"...

Regarding black boxes I wonder if they should be compulsory for drivers who have just passed their test, say for three years, including those who lost their licences and just got them back, that might reduce accidents in that age range a little.

It’s a difficult one as I wouldn’t mind him having a black box but reading the small print, it’s app based and it even counts if your a passenger in the car and one of the named drivers uses it and if say I took his car out without him it would flag up as the car being moved without the app being used

They recon there are more accidents involving young people (especially boys) when there's a group of them in the car, distraction I suppose... I'm sure I read somewhere that they were looking at whether to limit the number of people in the car for new drivers for exactly that reason.

You'd have just had to have be very careful so his score will increase!! ;)

He didn’t get a black box policy in the end, renewed his existing one, mad thing with that when he got his first policy was more expensive by about £100 to have a black box

the beauty of his first car being an MX5 was he couldn’t take groups of people out in it, the beauty of the BMW now is he can pick me and my wife up from town is we go out for a drink!

And showing off. Saw one a couple of days ago, shot off from traffic lights as soon as they went from red to red & amber. Didn't even wait for the green. Young lad driving and three mates in the car. Wasn't even "racing," he was the only one there and had been revving his engine impatiently before the lights changed. The sad thing is, is that he probably thinks he is a good driver.

That is not the new Capri it has to many doors, and the bonnet is far to short.

After seeing what Ford did to the "Mustang", I could well believe that as the "New Capri".

At least it's not infested with superfluous sweeps, swages, and spoilers, like a lot of the Korean stuff.

Haven't wheels got repulsive, though; those looks like something made by Lego

Indeed. The only design cue from the original appears to be the rear quarter light.

It's probably just the job though for Bodie and/or Doyle to drop the nippers off at daycare and then take the grass cuttings down the tip.

Poor show Ford.

By the by I espied an estate, or should that be shooting brake, of the Jaguar XF a few days ago. Very smart looking motor.

I agree. Looks like any other SUV. In my opinion that's half the trouble these days. All new cars look alike; there's no individuality anymore. I suppose that is because nowadays all a "designer" has to do is punch into a computer a list of "wants, needs and desirables" and no matter which company the "designer" works for the computers are bound to come up with the same basic designs.

If they survived, Bodie and Doyle would be providing day-care for their grandkids by now. 😉

That angle it’s a dead ringer for a Polestar2

large part of it will be safety regs re collision protection for pedestrians  safety cells for occupants etc meaning everything becomes a bland homogenous boring lump
