neal
These do get dirty very quickly.
neal
The pcb is identical to the new 47, so for DCC fitting I would suggest referring to that thread. Point of note, the wires connecting bogie pickups are very tight to the aperture in the chassis. One of mine was severed, and was a bit of a faff to re-solder. Worth checking when test running or DCC fitting. When run in, these do run very well! N
47606odin
Got my 56 fitted with sound. It took a little while, but I have another to fit with the the XL chip rather than an L so that’ll be another video series. Here is part 3 (the video with the screaming)

Surely one of your best yet Lee. I so wanted to liberate it but alas funds not forthcoming currently.

Maybachmd655
Thanks for posting this. I will be able to see where I went wrong with the lights now. Thank goodness there are people who know what they are doing on this forum. The Fleet is looking very impressive. Type 5s the way forward….

47606odin
An excellent model from Heljan, so we have 2 here for Hither Green. One bug visually is the un-prototypical bottom corners of the cab roofs. The domes straightened out near the bottom then you have a sharp curve, rather than following the natural curve of the roof. A bit of filing and sanding has it looking much better with a nice continuous curve Before, during and after
47606odin
Before and after, correcting the black below the windows to follow the frames rather than the ledge. Unfortunately this highlighted an issue with the bottoms of the windows not being the same as each other in the centre

I have adjusted the yellow slightly since and it looks a bit better, at least without my glasses on. Not much room with the ledge in the way

RMweb Premium Hal Nail Posted October 20, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 20, 2023 (edited) Top right looks interesting. I'm merely guessing it's converted from a Heljan but even if it isn't its an idea! Edited October 20, 2023 by Hal Nail
RaiL2
Hello ! I just bought an Heljan class 56 / RAILFREIGHT / LARGE LOGO / unumbered and wish to make it a 56135 era 1985/1989, with its specific livery (as the BR LARGE LOGO is centered). So before entering the workshop, I have 2 questions : 1) Looking at the grey tone of the Heljan model, it seems darker than the pictures of class 56 I can find on the internet. As I got few memories about this livery, can you confirm the grey applied on the model is correct ? 2) In the eventuality I need to repaint the grey of the body (to apply the new centered logo), could you indicate me a RAL equivalent for the grey RAILFREIGHT colour used in the eighties ? Thank you for your help and cheers from Paris !
