There's Evri chance that they'll lose your parcel.

Anyway, here's to next week when batch 2 squad get their models (or alternatively chase couriers around).

Mine is sat in my local shop waiting collection. The shop say I need a barcode that I don't have to collect it. Phoned DHL they told me I have to ask on line for a barcode. Which I did they emailed me back saying I need to phone them to get a barcode. By that point all their phone lines are off and the call handellers are away home or off to the pub

I collected 2 from my local shop only 1 had a barcode and for the other which was a text notification they asked for a pickup code from the text which was an AXXXXXX (6 digit code) which they keyed in and released the parcel.

Assuming AS's warehouse has managed to get shot of batch 1!

But yes, really, really looking forward to my 92020 turning up. And the mk5s it is destined to pull. I was thinking about a CS one too but the 92 and CS mk5s are for me 1 train that will be pretty much always attached together. Another 92 is probably a waste really, as nice as it would be.

That said....

After nearly 12 month, my WIP 86101 got a little bump in excitement today and I finally did the numbers.

However Ive mislaid its nameplates… then ive an 87 donor chassis for its bits on the other side.

However it did give me chance to do a side by side comparison of all 3 CS offerings todate ( guess which companies Blue is the odd one out)..

And some RFD comparison too…

Herpes were grim! I have a new found disdain for UPS. Had a delivery of track due this week, but I was working in the office, so went onto the website and redirected it to a local late night convenience store. The package got delivered to a computer repair place that is also a UPS access point. Not open in the evening, not open at weekend. Now waiting for it to be sent to the place I asked for. DHL handled a similar redirection with the 92, no problems at all.

It's... it's not Hornby's is it perchance?

I've had their 67004 model and it was nothing like the right shade. Accura and Heljan seem to have done a much better job!

2/10 of my fleet arrived today, 92038 and 92003. I got notification that 2 more, including the one bought yesterday are on their way today…

Despite both being “With Polo mints”, they are actually different body sides…

The difference is the tag, at the top of the body above the small roundel…92003 does not have it.

( Anyone know what this actually is ?)

I believe it is a RFID tag which helps track the locos for maintenance purposes

92003 does not have the tag as the loco is in as built condition and the tags were not in use then.

The tags got fitted in the EWS era

92003 has a tag now but is in need of some TLC

I noticed the GBRf locos don't seem to have the tag - unless it is somewhere different

Just checked over my two, 92003 and 92022.  Superb looking models with amazing details. Not test run them yet.

Just one question on 92022 Charles Dickens: my 92003 came with metal BR arrows and Crewe depot plaque; should 92022 come with a metal nameplate, BR arrows and Crewe depot plaque?  None of these were with it, just the bag of pipes and bufferbeam parts.

Mine did. I've got two bags: one with the buffer beam parts and one with the name plates, BR arrows and depot plaques.

That last picture with the flash on does seem to show a good chunk of solid plastic around the bogie springs and axle boxes. The roundels could also perhaps do with better definition. Maybe a couple of small areas of potential improvement for future batches (I get the impression Accurascale don't stand still and like to try to better themselves)?

That said, I don't want come across negative about these. I absolutely love my one - it's a superb model in so many ways. Accurascale should be so proud of not only what they have achieved with this model (and others), but the way they seem to conduct themselves and deal with us moany gits should be commended! I cannot think of another model railway manufacturer that can match these guys for customer interaction, friendliness, and even consultation! I've seen many times where the team have responded publicly to constructive criticism during the development of several models. I'm sure this pays dividends because taking on board the customers' views before signing off a product for manufacture surely helps to sell as many units as possible. We've probably all not bought products because we're not happy with the accuracy of the looks, or the lack of features etc. Hats off guys!

Finally managed to free my class 92 from my local DHL collection point. Turns out you don't need a barcode, the guy I spoke to in the shop yesterday was just clueless. Any way. Now that I have it and have it out the box all I can say is wow. It's even more impressive in the flesh. The level of detail is amazing the finish is amazing. This is the first Accurascale model I've bought (I have plenty more on pre order.)

Well done fran and your team on a great model.

To offer a counter perspective to all this praise - I have some real issues with this model:

1. it makes many of my existing models look toylike

2. It is too nice to even contemplate weathering

3. I really don’t need more but I find myself continuously contemplating ordering more

i would urge extreme caution to anyone considering ordering one of these…

Joking apart guys - a seriously nice bit of kit. It even looks heavy somehow and just oozes quality.

Ironically in that light it's the 87 that looks closest to "right" to my (admittedly colour blind) eyes.  The 92 looks spot on for the mk5 coaches but, in reality, the coaches and locos don't really match...the 86s and 87 in particular were a lot "bluer".

Still immensely looking forward to getting my two, the detail on the 92 looks fantastic.

Spot something other than the colour that is not right (hint, it's not the 92)

86101 is a long way from right (as I said in the  post, is a work in progress), ive not done the  underframe, front or nameplates yet, the data panels need moving too.

The 87 body is actually listed in the classifieds on here if anyone wants it (i reassembled it for the pictures)  as the chassis will be going under a Lima 87101 I did 30 years ago but is being updated with parts of a Bachmann 90 roof which is also a WIP.. but will provide the Lima frame bits I need for 86101.

That would be funny if they had, it was an 86401 originally.

They did get 86401 wrong though, it has oval buffers in reality, and red LEDs, but ok for 86101.

I’m planning a lazy route, once Ive the chassis right, I will probably doing an Intercity exec 86103 and maybe a blue 86102… though the bodies will share the chassis, and i’ll sell off the other chassis/boxes.

(i used Bachmann 90 bogies, £5 from Bachmann spares) and cut to fit / removed the moulded springs. They are both detailed and better fit than 87 bogies from Hornby and much more detailed than Lima… theres maybe 0.5mm offset from the axle and no one will notice. However the two “boxes” on the 87 the need fitting on the 86101 and other parts removing would be a bit expensive from a Hornby 87, so ive decieded the upgrade route of my Lima 87101 and to cut/strip its old Lima frames. The class 90 roof panel (also £5) has much detail and better parts than my 30 yr old efforts which included carving a wine cork. My project stalled as I cant find 87101.. its in the pile in the loft somewhere.

Hi everyone,

Just a quick note to say thank you to everyone for your feedback on the 92s and all your orders, kind words and patience. We’re buzzing here that you are loving them.

It was a long time coming, but we wanted to make the very best Dyson we could, packed with the technology and features that would set a new bar in RTR OO gauge locomotives. Being a young company this is always a challenge, requiring lots of testing, R&D and of course investment. Seeing how they have turned out and how popular they’re proving to be has vindicated our hard work and investment!

Batch 2 arrives on Monday and we will work hard to get them out to everyone during the next week.

Cheers!

Fran

All the positive feedback is completely justified and I hope that Team AS are enjoying bathing in it!

Do you have an indication of when the crews are likely to be available to add to the cabin please?

Keep up the tremendous work :)
