Brian D
As you may have guessed from the numerous "Like"s I've just added, I have just had a more detailed look at your thread. Fantastic architectural modelling Calvin. I see you are very competent with AutoCAD (you put my modest TurboCAD efforts to shame), are you a building or engineering professional? Superb work and a real design and construct process followed. Well done my friend. Best Regards, Brian.

Hi.. thanks I have worked in drafting offices since 14 or 15 (during school holidays) mostly architecture but also in engineering. Basically any thing from loft conversation. Schools, hospitals, then into designing playground equipment, and on ward to helicopter jet turbine engines (model ones ) but I do love to draw. :). Did you see what I ment about curved streets. I am trying to get things painted at mo. Beautiful work. And you also have mastered 3D printing - amazing. Regards, Brian.
calvin Streeting
whislt test running the 3d printer (it went funny and started to layer shift.. so needed another bodge.. kind of like mir this one ) i tied up the board and started work on the canal and yard... YAY TRAINS at last again... the incline is a bit steep. but as i wlill only be shunting 1 or 2 trucks up and down at a time, its fine (well test run worked. the yard will be cobbled, thats why yard office and pub sits a litter high kerb atm. need to reaearch yard , tight curve turnouts, and how to slow down 2 or more 0-4-0 's
calvin Streeting
so over the canal i go.. and back to the old warehouse, took awhile to get colours right (i think nearly there but tin roof need to be lighter, and main slates need painting) its actually quite intresting how the colour of the windows (started black, and then cream) makes to the feel of it. the black was to much of a distraction for the eyes, and i prefer the cream the lower windows are boarded up after i took a visit to my favorite model timber yard "costalot of coffe" the boat is 10mm to low as someone let all the water out of canal. need a ghost sign on the chimney so next finish painting and canal edge wall and get these buildings in place an wired in and light up but i ran out of GLUE mmmm
calvin Streeting
and onto the yard track.. hopeing and so far so good to print track base (@140mm Radius) so far so good 11.25 degree angle works best atm as alot of friction feeding in the rail. couplerings are tight, but this part is single truck shunt so should be ok for my needs. the center is clear for latter Air Dry Clay Cobbles next to see if i can get this to work.. the hole is for a micro servo. Charlie586
Just read through the thread the past few days, you've done some incredible building work, Calvin. I especially like the platforms and the pub, but everything's of high quality. Excellent stuff. 1

Martin S-C
Hi Calvin, I have spent odd hours going through your thread over the last 2 to 3 days and I have to say that your standard of modelling is superb, also unique. Your ability to 3D print up almost anything you need at the drop of an item of headgear fills me envy. I also really like the sloping streets in the town scene. My own layout's major town scene has a height difference of 2" front to back so I've been taking notes and pinched some copies of your imnages for inspiration. Great stuff! 1
calvin Streeting
Hi. First of thanks. A 3d printer really helps, doesn't speed stuff up tho as I just add more.. lol.. I love little details especially when slightly hidden so people have to move to see them fully. And thus end up looking down every ally.. with regards to sloping streets those came from a day spent in Frome a lovely unique old town (Google images if you have never been. And once again thanks
calvin Streeting
update: Test on yard turnout are going well .. might have to get some metal gear servos, rather than cheep ones and slow down this 0-4-0 as ludicrus speed is a bit to fast... and get a stay alive chip to avoid 0-4-0 pickup problems.. (but not turnout is elector frog, and hence 2 switches to flip power atm..
calvin Streeting
Test of 3d printed yard track turn out, using horndy 0-4-0 desiel and guagemaster DCC27 and home built "Stay Alive" cap Note: the only times it stops is when rocrail set speed to Zero. (not due to pickup Failure etc Still need to replace couperling, but i think thats a go ahead with yard track... (or at least print more parts etc.. VERY HAPPY ...
calvin Streeting
and truck shunting Blimey lots of post about trains.. not buildings for once ... YAY I got final pass wrong, forgot to flip the frog switch...
calvin Streeting
well its back to the pub roof this weekend for a night or 2 on the tiles.... 2mm x 3mm roof tiles indervidualy stuck in place very time consuming, but creates a different texture to stip tiles, and this is a old roof.. and i also started the down pipes.. (this building is a rareity as it seems they plumed in a toilet.. (gutters not glued yet just held with blue tack for mo... also been looking at wharf track layout, a simple layout, but (dont tell wife) could extend the base board to the right, and thus add more warehouses and track, maybe a shuting game layout, evne considering it being part inside building modeled, with views from inside etc.. lots of things to think about, and i spent a bit of time looking at liveries of private shunters etc, and considering a "Eastpoint Wharf Shiping" company with red and yellow... (silly i know, but this is fun... )

calvin Streeting
After 4th attempt to rob a old relay of its wire, and wind my own coil, using lego took ages and lots of &*&# but anyway test 2 complete.. success. now to learn coli maths and build transistor gate so not to blow up DCC chip, ooh and buy wire as easyer than robing it
calvin Streeting
yay .. done all the tiles... took ages strip slates are way quicker. but this old pub needed a old roof need to finich gutters and down pipes, but will need other roof slated first . oo and managed to light loo in fact in this smalll area we have 7 seperate light circuits, and need to add a street lamp to right of pub
Martin S-C
I like your style of modelling Calvin and many of your buildings look like they'd be at home on the set of a Tolkein-inspired fantasy film. They have that strangely medieval feel. Place a few adventurers with bows and battle axes in front of them and you wouldn't blink an eye. If you'd considered it you could probably get a good job as a model-maker for a film effects company.
calvin Streeting
haha well this is a old pub, so parts might well be that old.. i love looking for the layers of history in buildings, different stone work etc, proably watched to much "Time Team" and so many buildings where removed after the war. but even then they still reused foundations would love to work in films, (i watch a lot of inderpendent films) Hopefully next building will be a bit more railway, (A Coach Shed), but even that will have 2 layers (early 1800's base adapted in 1900's) , just need to sort out the Canal Pump House motor and get it glued down.
