RMweb Premium newbryford Posted January 11, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 11, 2019 Not quite certain if this is the correct part of the forum. This comes around about twice each year. Collect tokens in local northern papers to exchange for £10 day or £17.50 Northern Rover tickets. https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/jpimedia https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/reachplc Although a weekend ticket is not much use in the current climate...... RMweb Gold TheSignalEngineer Posted January 11, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 11, 2019 Can only be bought from a manned ticket office, so that will reduce the take-up.
APOLLO
Northern's "days" end at 5.00 pm every Saturday !! Brit
RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted January 12, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 12, 2019 Why only local "northern" papers? Would it not be good to encourage people from outside the area to visit and add to the economy?
RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted January 12, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 12, 2019 Why only local "northern" papers? Would it not be good to encourage people from outside the area to visit and add to the economy? Then they would only have to visit once if they won. If they have to travel local for 'Northern' papers they may make several visits to purchase them, just for fun. Joe Kerr.
Boris
Seems ironic running this promotion on a Saturday at the moment......
RMweb Premium ColinK Posted January 13, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 13, 2019 Promoting a weekend tocket can only harm Northern, strikes on Saturdays and lots on cancellations on Sundays. Its only a Monday to Friday railway in the North West. How many people are going to be tempted to try using Northern then have a bad experience or end up getting stranded somewhere? long island jack
And you can't even get one up here in the real Northwest, Cumbria, Northern are really rubbish!! we've started using the local bus to Carlisle, takes longer, but more reliable!!! RMweb Premium newbryford Posted January 17, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 17, 2019 Just arranging my ticket and variations occur, The Johnstone press page says three tokens and then the T&Cs say 2. The downloaded form says 3 in the T&Cs and has space for 3. The Reach page and downloaded form are all for 2 tokens..... I await a reply from Northern. RMweb Premium Northmoor Posted February 3, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 3, 2019 Not quite the same thing but I can recommend the West Yorkshire Day Rover (£7.50) which I used last July: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/prbc4917a9e649fb95db8b12ad320b5f.aspx I did Keighley - Skipton (had to buy a small add-on for that) - Shipley - Bradford FS - Ilkley - Leeds - Tormorden - Halifax - Huddersfield - Leeds (hang about as the ticket's not valid from 1601-1829) - Knottingley & back - Keighley. AMJ
Northern staff also have similar for friends and family. I'm planning on going to Nottingham then paying to go up the Robin Hood to wait for a Lincoln Leeds service. Probably with some ales en route.
