steameralan
I model in Gauge 1 and normally live steam. However I have just acquired a 3D printer and I would like to print the front and rear of a DMU. Unfortunately I cannot find suitable drawings with enough detail. Diagrams only give overall dimensions but I feel that there must be better out there. Can anyone help please. Steamport Southport
I know they probably aren't suitable drawings for making models, but have you seen these? https://www.railcar.co.uk/print/diagrams/?page=about Jason

RMweb Premium DavidLong Posted January 1, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 1, 2019 How about this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pictorial-Record-British-Railways-Multiple/dp/1900298007 Slightly misleading title as it is 90% drawings with only a few photographs. It has drawings of all inner and outer ends of every type of BR 1st generation units. Sadly the second-hand price seems to be just over double the 1995 price of £19.95. AbeBooks also have copies for around the same as Amazon. All drawings at 4mm scale. David

There is another thread here, so be careful. hayfield
That’ The one I thought was a Wild Swann book. Excellent book and as you can see has a resale value once you have used it

I built a 3R unit from scratch, initially using this book, and found a few issues. Problem is, we're all saying which drawings to not use, but are struggling to suggest any sources of accurate ones. So possibly start from known dimensions and photographs. You can get some of the dimensions from the BR weight diagrams, which are online: http://www.barrowmoremrg.co.uk/BRBDocuments/BRDMUIssue.pdf

RMweb Premium corneliuslundie Posted January 3, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 3, 2019 The HMRS has a great many prototype diesel drawings, including details. www.hmrs.org.uk Have a look at the website and if you don't see what you need e-mail them as there is a lot which is not yet listed. Links are given on the site to the various officers. Jonathan
