Damo666
I got a Hornby Golden Plover second-hand, but was a non-runner. After taking apart the motor and giving it a good clean, there was still some problems. Than I noticed that someone, somehow, had removed the brass pick-up strips on the Chassis Bottom Assembly and cut the wires, and similarly cut the wires in the tender. No idea why anyone would go to such trouble, never mind cutting the wires but removing the brass pick-up strips. Anyway, to fix this I'm not sure what wire on the tender connects to which side of the motor tender. Here is the whole assembly from the service sheet. I've colour coded the wires to help me trace the route. I'm missing the long green and long pink wires from the tender underframe to the ringfield motor. What is not clear is where these wires go to on the motor: Is it pink wire to the left brass pick-up, or to the left wire on the resistor, and Green wire similarly to the right? RAF96
The non geared wheel is normally live to the axle and hence to the motor housing where the blue wire spade terminal attaches to a lug, same T shape as seen on the opposite side of the housing, but not a very secure fit usually. The left hand brush may be live to the housing via the screw, or both brushes may be insulated from the housing, making it a bit easier to rewire. It isn’t clear if the yellow wire is also the green wire and/or attached to Wire-Man, as that odd combo of ferrite sleeve and capacitor is known.
