Les1952
Rise Park's van is booked and paid for, and trains are running round and round at the clubroom. We might actually have the O4 2-8-0 running, as I've spent the best part of a day getting it to run properly in both directions. BTW there was a degree of waxing lyrical in BRM about the late Trevor Webster's buildings on Stamford East. Rise Park has another set of Trevor Webster buildings- beginning with the derelict farm at the left of the above picture and continuing via the station, the row of housebacks at the back and the industrial stuff at the front to the vast majority of the buildings in Top Valley Market at the end. Like Stamford East these were all made of plasticard and mostly from drawings and photographs of the actual structure where standing. For the record, Trevor's building sets are to be found in quantity on the following layouts Parnhams Maltings and Parnhams (both layouts now in private hands) Stamford East - see this one downstairs at this show Rise Park - see this one upstairs at this show and compere the two Whatton Parva, now sold on and retired from the exhibition circuit and his final two station sets, made after he stopped building complete layouts- Malmesbury, built for the late Chris Burch, and finally Croft Spa, built for me (thread on RMWeb) and going out for the first time at Sileby the week after Doncaster. All the very best Les

Aimed at the 7-8+ ages (adult supervision required). Requires sharp hobby knife and PVA/Wood Glue to finish. Made using coloured boards so that out of the box it doesn't need any painting (can be repainted/weathered if desired with either acrylics or enamels). Please collect from the children's area at the show.

RMweb Gold Ian Hargrave Posted February 6, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 6, 2019 For those of you planning a visit by rail, which until I checked the National Rail app a few minutes ago included me,please be aware of industrial action by Northern Rail which will impact on services in the area this weekend. The knock on effect is likely to increase demand on other TOC’s capacity. Fortunately the event has excellent free parking and is easily accessible via the M18 and A1. Regrettably, the train won’t be taking the strain for me on Saturday. Much as I dislike the motorway,I’ll drive.
woodenhead
Those of us in the North are quite used now to a 6 day railway with no Saturday service by Northern. East Midlands, Cross Country and TPE are running - various options If coming from the West - TPE services via Sheffield to (Manchester Airport - Cleethorpes) will be running, from Liverpool East Midlands from Liverpool to Sheffield then Cross Country to Doncaster. From York - direct LNE services or via Wakefield using Cross Country and LNE. But if you are that side of the Pennines already then a car is probably the quickest and most direct way to get to Doncaster.

As of about 3 hours ago as I type, RMT have called off all strikes on Northern. Probably worthy of its own thread. But Northern have said it still won’t manage a full timetable on Saturday after running nothing for so long but there will be a decent amount of trains running. As stated above, plenty of other TOCs into Doncaster. 1 1

Eases the threat of overcrowding on both XC and TPE in South Yorkshire at least.
RMweb Gold bourneagain Posted February 6, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 6, 2019 According to the Met Office forecast, there is going to be quite a gale blowing on Saturday and have issued an Amber Warning.
