Popular Post Melangoose
Spent some of this morning in the Hobbyroom, as it also doubles as storage area, and will have a lot of Uni stuff in there when my two come home in a few weeks time. Did have a chance to run a couple of trains. 50031 Hood waits in the Up Loop as 43179 Pride of Laira heads a Paddington bound train. 37711 Tremorfa Steel Works heads homewards to South Wales on a lengthy consist from the midlands. Closely followed by 47555 Commonwealth Spirit on a Crewe to Newport TPO Class 108 passes the old Steelworks at Foundry Junction. 50031 Hood finally gets the “Road” and heads towards Bescot.

Melangoose
One of my friends from my modelling group came over a couple of months ago and gave me a good idea to finish off the Old Station Cafe. Add a couple of “Cafe Parking Only” signs against the fence. So I have done this and it kind of completes the scene. Thanks you Scott, for the great idea. 18
Popular Post Melangoose
There are only the mid summer months when the 20:51 from Hereford to Paddington (NSE Service) can be observed passing the 18:22 from Paddington to Hereford (InterCity Service). The 20:51 is the last train to pass Wyvern Road bound for the Capital, the stock having worked the 17.22 from Paddington earlier in the day. The HST then forms the 21:41 Empty Coaching Stock to Phillips Marsh HST Depot, south on the Marches Line and turning off just before Newport through the Severn Tunnel to Bristol. Then in the early hours, two HST Sets form the 03:15 & 04:30 from St Phillips Marsh back to Hereford for the 05:28 & 06:42 departures to Paddington.

Your Revolution wagon models are essential when we are running the layout in the modern era. Looking forward to getting your HOA’s and IHA’s. And in time the 175 fleet to complete the Welsh Boarder scene.

Popular Post Melangoose
A Nod to Hayley Mills I Am very lucky to have a bit of Model Railway history on the layout. As I have said before some of the buildings that I have used are from Russell Bridge (built by Steve Adcock in the early 1990’s). Also from Russell Bridge are some of its stock, which still cut it in today’s standards. One such item is the Re railing coach. This coach is marked Russell Bridge on one side and Hayley Mills (one of the most inspirational layouts I have ever seen) on the other. Steve was part of the group of friends that had the Emerson brothers who built HM. And this coach regularly travelled with HM to exhibitions. Popular Post Melangoose
Absolutely Delighted to get my model of 47600 Dewi Saint/ Saint David back in the loco roster. This loco has had a bit of a time. I paid to have the sound fitted a little while back at my local model shop. When I got it back I tested to make sure the sound worked and gave it an address. But when I got my 1990 stock out at the beginning of the year and put it on its Speedlink train, the sound worked as before but I didn’t move. Anyway the shop were good enough to realise that it was a faulty chip and replaced it. So now it’s on the roster, and I am well happy to have it running. I have fond memories of 47600 back in the day, like this picture taken in 1989 at Salisbury whilst doing a stint on the Waterloo to Exeter service. Popular Post Melangoose
Ran a couple of trains this evening, making the most of the longer summer days. 150124 operates a Birmingham New Street to Hereford service. 158761 on a Cardiff to Manchester train. 56104 on empty HEA wagons bound for South Wales. Then passes 7819 Hinton Manor bound for Tyesley. Passing the Signal Box and admired from the staff within. 37796 emerges from the road bridge and Wyvern Park station. Making good progress.
Melangoose
The School Holidays is a busy time for our family, so I haven’t had much Model Railway time. But one stock project that I have been tinkering on and off for months is my Salmon wagons. I bought these a couple of years ago from a colleague who wanted ride of them. It was a bit of a project as they are Cambrian Kits and they needed some work as the bogie mounts were not straight so they needed dismantling and sorting (thought at the time I could make 3 runners out of the 4 wagons). Anyway we are getting there (at my usual snails pace). I think I just need to add some straps.
Nick G
Looking good Nigel, some 1mm blue masking tape makes a good representation of straps.

rob D2 Posted Wednesday at 10:15 Share Posted Wednesday at 10:15 Layout is looking great . I do like the 1990 colourful stock although it’s a bit too new/ old for my modelling eras ! Im not sure how I missed so many updates , for some reason the layout name evoked 1870s steam engines so I glossed over it !
