RLBH
Are any of the teams from Series 1 planning to have another go? Do the winners get a chance to defend their Trophy? The usual way that this kind of TV programme does it is to have new teams in each season. If it's sufficiently popular, and the competitors are up for it, you may get a Christmas Special 'Champion of Champions' after a few years have passed and a decent number of series winners are available. I'm not so sure.. there are specialised topic programmes that have repeat contestants.. Two that spring to mind are: Robot wars Scrap heap challenge Andy
Marcus-Jay
Are any of the teams from Series 1 planning to have another go? Do the winners get a chance to defend their Trophy? As a S1 team member, we have, as a team, thrown our names back in for the next series. I would assume that this time round the production company will have the luxury of too many entries and be able the pick and choose the contestants that best fit what they want to see, any 'repeat contestants' can just be used to fill gaps if there are any. But that is just my personal guess work.

enginelane
Wakefield Show last weekend and having a Team in Series 1 did have a positive effect on numbers through the door and general interest in the exhibition. This was evidenced by the number of people coming up and saying saw you on the tellyˋ etc. We had two of the three boards on display and there was always looking to at them, probably wanting to see if the water had set! So target of extra 100 through door and 2 new members met. Layout in modified form will re appear for 2019 show and will form a separate thread when we get going on it

I guess maybe it was that I spent a lot of time looking at Grantham and talking to some operators and traders. I have been going to the Wakefield show since the 60's (even before it was in Unity house) so hopefully I will see it next year :-) Garry

whart57
As an FYI, I was told yesterday by KBG that the teams for series 2 will be finalised by February. That is the target so that the selected teams have three months to prepare and pre-build before recordings in May and June

Thank you for the video - great to see the layouts up close, and to hear the sound of young children taking an interest (certainly in the soundtrack to Santa's holiday, even if not quite so happy sounding in the background to the final section with City of Tiers, I hope the parents enjoyed the show). Not having been at Warley, it's nice to see something of what it was like. True, the children may be more interested in Santa than other aspects of the modelling - but he brought me my first train set, I'm sure. theonlyadsrulz
It was certainly great to see a big number of families at Warley on Saturday. Having not been to the exhibition before, I can't say whether it's more than usual or not. Had a few interactions with viewers of all ages who enjoyed the show. In particular myself and Captain Callum of RVD spoke to the parents of one little boy who became very shy and directed his attention to Aberdeen's winning layout when he realised who we were. We were his favourite team apparently! I also spoke to another mother and her son when he spotted one of our team members taking a photo and I overheard him get very excited so decided to introduce myself. Also great to chat once again with fellow finalists from Basingstoke, Aberdeen, and Fawley, as well as members from fellow heat two competitors Team Sci-fi, and not to mention those from other teams we didn't get to meet at all, including The Shunter Guys, Tonbridge, and Laurie from Team Steampunk! Chats with judges Steve and Kathy, and production team Pat, Bryher, and Daniella were also very welcome! An excellent day was had, it took us two hours into the exhibition before we got past the Peco/Hornby/Bachmann stands we were so busy chatting!
Popular Post Imustbemadatmyage
Hello. Let me introduce myself. I am a retired bloke who decided to buy his grandson a Thomas set for Christmas. When it arrived a couple of weeks ago (I don’t believe in last minute shopping!) it re-kindled my interest in model railways. As I don’t have a lot of room, I decided to go down the N scale route and am currently researching track, layouts etc, including how to model scenery. The recent programme was brilliant for me. All the techniques I had seen on the internet were being put to good use and to see the way the teams approached their tasks was an eye opener. I didn’t want to see how-tos because I have seen enough of those on the internet, and I have reached the conclusion that there are many ways of doing anything. For me, as a non-modeller (so far), it was brilliant entertainment and contained enough information to make me even more determined to build a good layout. As an aside, I am a retired doctor but I still watch Casualty and Holby City. I accept that what I see is entertainment rather than instruction and I would hope that other modellers would take this programme for what it appears to be - entertainment. Certainly for me it has acted as both a stimulus to get building and a reassurance that it is not a totally black art.
