ahardy
Its been a busy month or so at the Hardy's Hobbies HQ. We have released another batch of figures, this time featuring some more non-railway personnel. The latest releases include some great Policeman, shopkeepers or stores keepers and a couple of new animal packs featuring cats and dogs. All available as usual on the website at www.hardyshobbies.co.uk Happy modelling!

Lyddrail
I only recently discovered this range of figures. I did three for my new layout exhibited last weekend. They were a bit rushed and require more work on the hair and faces. I had been looking for long coats for some time. I would highly recommend these figures. Cheers.
The Bigbee Line
Who did the hair cuts, the third guy looks like the barber used a knife and fork....... My dust coat is just like that. Hard to come by these days.... Mine has authentic grease marks.... 2
RMweb Premium Torper Posted May 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 5, 2019 Is the second chap wearing spats? I think it's high time that they came back into fashion. DT
truffy
Worth knowing about this resource. Some of those figures would fit well enough in a '30s SR 'scape.
RobjUK
Hi, I received three 7mm figures from Hardys a few days ago. I've got to say, the detail and finish quality are absolutely staggering, they are amazingly good! Highly recommended. Unfortunately my painting does not do them justice, Rob.

wamwig
Ordered some of the latest Hardy's figures at the weekend (taking advantage of the 10% discount), had them custom printed at 1/72 rather than 1/76 and they arrived yesterday (Wednesday), terrific service and great figures, thanks Andy and Steve. My wife is wondering how I'm going to paint those cats to represent ours, especially the Tortoiseshell one, though!!
ahardy
Hello everyone! We are sorry we have been so quiet over the last few months - we have had some rather exciting projects on the go. We released loads of new figures. However we have also been working with TS Designs to produce our first locomotive body kit: This semi-freelance Hudswell Clarke will be available as a complete body kit (including body, handrail knobs and wire, smokebox dart, fixing bolts and footplate crew). This kit fits on the Electrotren/Jouef chassis. Price will be £45 for the complete body kit and we hope they will be ready for sale by the end of August. Be the first in line when they are released by registering your interest ont he website here: https://hardyshobbies.co.uk/hudswell-clarke-0-6-0-industrial-tank/ Happy Modelling!
RMweb Gold Edwardian Posted September 11, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 11, 2019 Always cheers me to see fresh evidence of the vibrancy and creativity of our cottage industries. You never know what will pop into existence next. I must say, this looks a great range of figures; some of the most successful 3D-print figures I've seen. Though most are too modern for me, they will suit most modellers, and I can certainly find a place in my heart and my modelling for IKB and the dogs! I hope the range will continue to go from strength to strength and, indeed, diversify, given all the possibilities of 3D-print, many far from fully exploited as yet. Particular congratulations to Hardy's and TS Design on the loco body kit. It really cuts a dash and I hope is the first of many. RMWebbers can do some amazing things when they come together, and you can never have too many 'small industrials'. It was great to see it in the press this month ...
ahardy
Thank you for the kind words. We are extremely pleased announce that in conjunction with TS Design we have now released a range of body kits! Currently two version of the semi-freelance Hudswell are available which will shortly be joined by a Hudswell Clarke 1800 class all of which fit on the Electrotren/Jouef chassis. We are working through some other designs that will fit on other chassis. If anyone has any ideas we would love to hear from you! Until then I will leave you with a few photos: Andy
TurboSnail
I've had my sample prints of the Hudswell Clarke PLA/1800 class come in, so I thought I'd show what comes in a kit (small disclaimer - I was involved in the design, so I'm not entirely unbiased!). Firstly, the main body - I think this comes with the support material removed (at least, mine did), with just a couple of minor areas to clean up. Then there's the roof, with support material still attached so it doesn't warp in transit. A 'sprue' with all the detail bits is included, with sandboxes, driver figures, springs, valves, filler caps etc. (plus extras depending on what loco is in the kit). With production kits, you also get all the handrail knobs, wire, smokebox dart, mounting hardware, cosmetic coupling hooks and any other bits you need to finish the loco, so all you need to add is the donor RTR chassis, paint and glue. The cost for most of the kits in the range is £45, which I think is pretty reasonable compared to the cost of similar resin bodykits available - plus you get all the detail parts included. Add an Electrotren chassis if you don't already have one (and if not, why not?!) for about £50 and you have a loco with a comparable cost to an equivalent RTR loco - with the difference that you get to say you built this yourself and have a prototype that most RTR manufacturers wouldn't consider making! Apologies if I sound like a salesman - I'm genuinely very pleased with how this has turned out! These kits aren't the last word in super-detail (although there are plenty of rivets to count if that's your bag), but that's not the point - it's designed to be a cost-effective and simple to construct kit. This is the standard chimney version of the Hudswell Clarke PLA/1800, other designs are available and the range is growing! https://hardyshobbies.co.uk/product-category/locomotive-body-kits/ 4
TurboSnail
Just finished the build of the above loco kit - the chassis doesn't sit quite right as I don't have the correct mounting bolts but should be sorted soon. I think I need to work on my weathering skills a bit more! 1
RMweb Premium Moxy Posted November 17, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 17, 2019 Very nice, Tom. I ordered a short sloped tank version about a month ago. Not had time to put it together yet, but very impressed with the print.
RMweb Premium ColinK Posted November 17, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 17, 2019 I wasn’t aware of this supplier until now. Some very nice figures which I’ll be ordering in due course. I did have a couple of chuckles though; they say they scan real people, so how did they scan IK Brunel? I thought he died a few years ago. Plus there is a ‘0044 lady stood on mobile phone’, I expected her foot to be squashing her phone, but no, the phone is in her hand! I got one of the chassis they use for their locos in my ‘will come in use box’. How about a 7mm scale narrow gauge body to go on it?
ahardy
Colin! You are quite right of course - I wasn't morbid enough to go looking in a grave for IKB. Thankfully STEAM museum at Swindon were up for some fun and let me come and scan their specialist mannequin!

RMweb Gold Firecracker Posted December 15, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 15, 2019 Just a quick note from a very happy customer. Whilst laid up with the lurgi I ordered an assortment of figures on Thursday morning. They arrived Saturday, very well packaged and are very nice to boot. One very impressed customer here, I’ll be ordering more. (The delay in posting is due to me having to collect from the sorting office, since following an episode of a postman with illegible handwriting, me on autopilot, the green waste bin and the dustman, the Royal Mail won’t leave things that won’t fit through the letterbox any more) Owain

As 'as a service to the customer' (read 'meeting delivery targets') our post leaves packages in my apartment block foyer, from where they get stolen, presumably to end up on Thief Bay. ahardy
Its been a busy few months at Hardy's Hobbies HQ - I apologise for the lack of updates. We have been busy beavering away with lots of new projects. Two loco kits - a Fox Walker saddle tank and a Pre-war Sentinel have been released. The former fits on the Electrotren 0-6-0 chassis while the Sentinel fits on the Hornby 48DS chassis. Soon to be released is an 0-4-0 Manning Wardle H class to fit on a Hornby W4 chassis. Keep an eye out for its release later this month. We also now offer three themed packs of people in 4mm and 7mm scales covering Station Platforms, Footplate, and Shed Scenes. Each of these packs contain eight figures and offer a saving of 25% against buying the figures individually. As usual further details can be found on our website at www.hardyshobbies.co.uk 2
