I am interested to know if anyone can identify the crane and wagons in the photo and also if this type of crane or something similar is available in 4mm.

Many thanks to David Ford for posting the photo for me

Thanks in advance

Michael

This is the photo Michael.  I was meant to post it as soon as Michael posted the request but I got involved in something else.

Pretty certain the underframe of the runner wagon came from an LMS Long Low wagon. It has the same W-irons with an extra 'leg' on the inner side.

https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/lmstube/h5afdb4e0 shows the sort of thing I mean.

Thanks Brian, yes I see where you mean. Do you have any ideas about the crane? I had a look on Paul Bartlett's web site but didn't find anything.

Forgive me my pedantry, but is the four wheeled wagon actually a runner wagon? It looks like a fairly conventional twin bolster carrying a load that has nothing to do with the crane - it looks like part of a conveyor system to me.

The actual runner wagon for the crane is the bogie vehicle, which matches those with the Taylor and Hubbard cranes on the preserved lines on the bestieboy site.

The bogie wagon looks as though it is either a GWR-built Macaw, or the BR-built Bolster C. You're correct, I suspect, about the ex-LMS 4-wheel wagon.

There was, (a few months ago?), on the Dave F's photos thread, a photo of a similar sized crane in transit to or from Cambois.

The caption stated that it was used in the maintenance of the staithes, and the load on the LONG LOW wagon appears to be a section of an elevator or something similar.

John Isherwood.

Nice to see that elderly Double bolster - but nowt to do with the crane. The crane appears to be manual, with a bogie bolster C runner - look at the big weight box at the far end. The north east had two of these DB967397 http://www.ontrackplant.com/otp/967397 http://www.ontrackplant.com/otp/967394

Look in https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/otpcranesetc for the cranes and runners. https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/otpcranesetc/e1e5092b8  https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/otpcranesetc/e87e6538
