RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted December 9, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 9, 2021 (edited) I have ordered some replacement windows and roof ventilators for the shed.. but it looks OK with a visiting ex LNER A3 Colombo (Jamieson kit) and a "Top Down" view of the shed and coaling tower Note the train coming up the track from the fiddle yard. RMweb Premium Barry O Posted December 24, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 24, 2021 Next visit by Red Leader is early January (UK Government Permitting!) More progress will be made. Before then I need to sort out a couple of wiring issues so that you can drive from the yard out onto the main lines (as per the control panel above), spray some of the MPD trackwork, finish the coaling facilities and the engine shed pits.. add some more lighting and make and build the walling around the back of the goods yard... In the mean time Have a Great Festive Season! Baz

RMweb Premium Barry O Posted January 2, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 2, 2022 So a bit of Ballasting has been undertaken in the MPD area.. An impending visit by Red Leader in a few days will see the rest of the track laid. In the meantime 3 Water Cranes have been fitted. They need finish weahering (indeed one needs finishing when I find the missing bits!) Baz 18

LNER4479
Back from another working visit to chez BarryO First job was to complete tracklaying in the loco depot. This centred around the turntable and matching the roads on and off, through and around the coaling plant. Always good to have a handy Duchess to hand, to check clearances, etc. In fact, there's one more length of track still to lay, one of today's jobs being to graft in a little bit of additional baseboard, now that we know the exact position of the coaling plant. Then it was back over to the main station, adding the supporting structure for the station approach, as well as adjusting levels to get it all blended it in correctly. Then, it was time to cut another one of those interestingly shaped boards... ... which fits in like so. Now there's some nice virgin boards just crying out for some track. This is what the station approach looks like, double track in and out, with goods yard reception road alongside, nearest to camera. Meanwhile in the background? The space there will be given over to a separate depot to keep all those dirty, smelly diseasels away from the luverly steam locos on the main depot. 13
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted January 12, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 12, 2022 A big thanks to Red Leader for all of his hard work today. He has now been initiated on how to get 8 foot long bits of plywood up our stairs using an open window. With a large diesel depot available the size of the steam MPD looks right for its role on the layout. Time for me to.. add some cork and finish a bit more of the ground cover inthe MPD. Our ceilings are nominal 2.5m rather than the more normal 2.4m. As well as giving a more spacious feel, it was only when I started manoeuvring 8’ lengths of ply around that I realised just how critical that extra 100mm is! RMweb Premium Barry O Posted March 7, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 7, 2022 Abit more scenic work undertaken in the shed area. Heavyweight ballast removed.. concrete "work area" added. Finer ballast to be applied. Concrete to be weathered to "in use" condition. Baz
