Rapido Trains has announced a minor but perhaps important update to how they produce models

Those who like the models made by Rapido Trains know and plan around their strict production numbers only match pre-order business model.

 

The latest newsletter (103) has 2 modifications to it that may impact how people budget / purchase Rapido models.

 

The first, and more impactful, change is:

 

 

Just an FYI, we're making a few surprise production runs over the next year or so. We'll announce them when they are on the water from the factory, and then they will be sold - from your local hobby shop and through us directly - on a first-come, first-served basis. We're doing this so the factories always have stuff to do in case a project they are working on gets delayed. So I encourage you to keep an eye on these newsletters. You never know what may be hidden inside!

 

Thus for any of these models the window of opportunity to purchase may end up being on the short side.

 

The other change is related to at least the NP freight car which has just left the factory:

 

 

We've decided it's OK to make some inventory for freight cars, so we've made some extras to last through the Christmas season.
