Coming along very nicely.

What's the plan for the smokebox ?

Thank you

No special plans for the smokebox, once I’ve painted the front of the boiler black I’m simply going to reattach the original one

Decided to paint the brake handle red, for the simple reason of it standing out

It’s the original brake handle just cut down and repainted

Still got to paint the chimney, add the hand rails and the tranfers etc but I’m getting there

will also need a bit of touch up here and there where it’s been manhandled to get things to fit

Despite having a splitting headache I couldn’t resist putting the handrails on

I used the short handrails from the original cab putting them on the rear, probably not right but it looks the part

Not looking forward to hand painting the chimney so I’ll wait until my headache has disappeared

I applied a gloss over the weekend (poorly) so this evening I’ve painted the chimney black and applied the transfers, the decal solution has made a bit of a mess so I’ll have to see it looks like tomorrow 🙄

I’ve used Fox transfers mainly because that’s all I had, I usually struggle with Fox transfers and today was no different

I'm looking hard, wondering where the mess is?

Fortunately I managed to remove the residue left by the decal solutions and it has been given a coat of matt varnish

Ignore the patches on the bottom of the cab and sand box, the varnish was still wet

Windows fitted

The front handrail, boiler lamp bracket and smokebox dart that I varnished gloss have also been added (thought it would be a good contrast against the matt black)

I’ve also attached the rails on the bunker, very delicate

1) surprised they printed

2) surprised they fitted

3) surprised I didn’t break them whilst fitting

4) surprised how good they look

Getting there, still haven’t decided if I will do any weathering (not weathered a loco before)

Another reason for resurrecting this project is because I’ve had these for quite a while now so I’m pleased that I’ve finally gotten around to using them

Oops! I put the Andrew Barclay plaque on upside down 🤣

Good job I use glue n glaze because I’ve been able to remove it and reattach it painlessly…

You’re probably right. You can’t actually make out the text (well I can’t) but I tell 🙄
