MrWolf
I suspect that untidy barges might be a modern thing. I would think that the crew would have everything down to a fine art to save time and have everything stowed and lashed down properly to prevent accidents losses and make the most of the space. Rather like lorry drivers did before curtain side trucks, ratchet straps and cling wrapped pallets. 1 4

I agree, especially as the boats were often also their homes, run as a family affair. 1 1

MrWolf
Not very good photos is my department! It's all looking rather good and the stringing is far neater than I can manage. I'm avoiding fitting three flat belts and they're a scale four inches wide! 1
RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted February 11, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 11, 2023 (edited) I wasn’t going to but I’ve attempted to paint a white stripe, now when I said I don’t enjoy brush painting what should have said is I hate it 😫 once dry I’ll have to see if I can tidy it up…..or soften/disguise it weathering powder 😂 I much prefer straight flat edges so I can use masking tape and an airbrush Please don’t zoom into the image Edited February 11, 2023 by chuffinghell 8 4 1

The ‘posty thing’ is the top mast with the floppy floppy bit on top being the looby. The top mast which is the red bit on top extends upwards and is in its lowest position in the photo. RMweb Gold Popular Post chuffinghell Posted February 12, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 12, 2023 (edited) Tried a touch of weathering, just used white powder to knock the edge off and tone down the colours, given it a dusty appearance Doesn’t really show in the photos Edited February 12, 2023 by chuffinghell 18

RMweb Gold Nick C Posted February 13, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 13, 2023 Weathering looks spot on Chris - as was discussed a few pages back, they were kept in good condition so wouldn't be scruffy. IMHO it just needs a bit of green along the waterline (like the photo in @IanM78's post just above) and maybe a little 'scuffing' from boots on the red foredeck?

It does indeed, I always find subtle weathering, (eg just enough to take the shine off,) is the hardest to do.

I couldn’t agree more, it’s quite nerve wracking after spending so long painting, especially when I really, really don’t like brush painting I was concerned that I’d overdone it here…. …but not much I can do about it now need to refocus my attention to the hoss so I can complete the scene (after drumming up the courage to pour in the water of course)
