RMweb Gold Nick C Posted May 12, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 12, 2020 Looks great! Along with the stool you'll want a small desk with the train register, and the box diagram above the block shelf.

Thanks Nick Once in place with the roof on you can only see through the open door and the front windows I thought about the box diagram but I don’t want it to block the window so you have to imagine it’s above the window suspended from the roof, also imagine the desk is under the left had window behind the door I know it’s cheating but I’ve got to make compromises due to its size and viewed position on the layout Edited May 12, 2020 by chuffinghell 7 2
RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted May 12, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 12, 2020 Alternatively I could put a desk on the back wall and replace the notice board with a smaller one off centre? 5

That looks better. It would be more likely to be a notice board than a timetable sheet anyway. 3

Thank you for clearing that up as I wasn’t sure and I thought it didn’t look right I have a smaller notice board I could use, fortunately I’d not permanently attached the larger one A term that’s used a lot is ‘less is more’ which is why I’ve tried not to cramp too much in a small space Edited May 12, 2020 by chuffinghell 5

RMweb Gold Nick C Posted May 12, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 12, 2020 I think the desk looks better under the window behind the door personally. Definitely agree on the smaller notice board - the signalman won't need the full public timetable, just the working timetable for the branch, the signal box special instructions, and any special traffic notices. 21 minutes ago, chuffinghell said: Many thanks to @Nick C and @St Enodoc for their continued help and advise, it’s greatly appreciated I wonder if I’m still in the running for the RMWEB slowest builder award? You're welcome. But slowest? You've seen my thread? I've ordered a bunch of building kits though, so I might actually have some progress on the scenic side soon... 1

RMweb Gold Nick C Posted May 12, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 12, 2020 Yep. Plenty of natural light there, and no wasted space. If you really wanted to go to town you could have a lamp over it, and a telephone on the wall. (You're going to hate me soon ) 2

Have you seen my Hailsham thread Chris? an Idea first discussed back in 2014, and so far I have managed to get the track down and wired. You have a long way to go before you are the slowest! Besides as I have said before, art isn't created overnight!! I will continue to aspire to your level! Gary 3 1
MrWolf
That makes me feel better, in 6 months I have built baseboards, laid and wired track. I have built bits of a signal box and built / modified / repaired a few bits of rolling stock. By my calculations I will be at the stage Chris is at by 2024... 2

RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted May 13, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 13, 2020 (edited) I’m still waiting for some bits to arrive for the signal box but in the meantime the pulleys have arrived This is the pulley for the signal on the platform I felt it would be much easier to attach this off the layout as this pulley goes half inside the cutout in the platform wall So I’ve been able to glue the point rodding assembly in place this morning Once dry I’ll be glueing down the platform....it’s been a long time coming Edited May 13, 2020 by chuffinghell
