RMweb Gold lezz01 Posted March 6, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 6, 2023 Where did you get the houses from Darius? Are they kits or did you scratch build them? Regards Lez.
RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted March 6, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 6, 2023 Hi Lez, They’re made from Scalescenes download and print “kits”. See page 9 of this thread for more information. Cheers Darius
RMweb Gold lezz01 Posted March 6, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 6, 2023 Oh yes I've seen them on the web site. P9 was before I started following your thread. Regards Lez.

RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted March 9, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 9, 2023 Scratch built using card, acetate sheet and brick paper. To go in one of the back yards of the row of terraced houses I am building. The plants are ready made items from eBay. Cheers Darius 7 4

RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted March 11, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 11, 2023 Completed embankment slopes installed on the layout. They are designed to be push fit only (i.e. not glued in place) so they can be removed to get access to point motors etc. for the upper track level. Darius, Neat solution. You might also want to glue some nylon thread/string to the underside of each removeable element, the excess of which you can 'hide' under the front edge. Then, you can use the thread/string to 'pull' out the elements in the future. Ian
RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted March 11, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 11, 2023 Neat idea. The embankments are polystyrene wedges that simply butt up against the edges of the upper track baseboard strips so they can be levered out if necessary. The fit between the units is not especially tight. I have “wrapped” the grass application around the side edges of each unit so that the joints between adjacent units blend together. RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted March 15, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 15, 2023 End walls fitted - one end adapted to follow the curve of the street. Roofing next. Cheers Darius
RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted March 15, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 15, 2023 (edited) Roofing completed. The tiles need some “toning down” to blend them in with the adjacent roofs. Also need to add chimney pots. Cheers Darius Edited March 15, 2023 by Darius43 11
RMweb Gold lezz01 Posted March 15, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 15, 2023 That roofing looks very nice Darius. They are certainly a cut above the printed ones the kit gives you. The houses themselves look very good and very well built mate. Regards Lez. 1

RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted April 16, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 16, 2023 (edited) The MGR train did several circuits after which the magnetic couplings began to fail as shown below. The couplings are from West Hill Wagon Works and are the latest of several failures I have had with their couplings. I am forced to conclude that they have a good concept but their execution and engineering is poor. Alas I won’t by buying anything else from them in future. I plan to make my own fixed bar couplings (like I did with the Freightliner Flats) and create permanently coupled rakes of 5 wagons with tension locks at each end.
