How close to the track should a team track platform or building be?

Recommended Posts

As the title says I am wondering how close should I be putting a building loading platform to the track?

Thanks

Johna

Tape pencils to the middle and both ends of your longest vehicle and run that on the track so the pencil points make a mark on your baseboard. This will be the edge of your loading platform or will mark how close a building can be to the track. The process works for both straight/curved track.Β

There was sometimes a surprising gap, which would be bridged by portable boards.

If your platform is on the inside of a curve, put the pencil at the middle of the inside of the longest vehicle.

Not a teamtrack, but the freighthouse part of a Central of Georgia type C combination depot.

Short answer is 9 ft from the center of the rail or about 1.25 inches/31mm.

Here is the page with all the industrial track design specs.
