RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted February 13, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 13, 2018 I've applied as I am a class act in procrastination. I was asked if I was a box opener or P4 fanatic. I said I was mid way and probably a pox fan.
vaughan45
Ah - Bakeoff et al for railway modellers. I suspect the producers may be looking not to showcase skills, but just cause conflict and re-inforce stereotyping. There seems to be some confusion of layouts or dioramas. Will there be separate categories for them as however wonderful a diorama it doesn't have the complexity or challenges of building a fully functioning layout, What scoring methodology will be used - will an P4 layout score more highly than OO because it is using a more accurate set of track standards? What if a layout looks stunning but runs like a pig on stilts? There are some aspects of this hobby where it is best not to shine a light. Misread the bottom part - thought it was one of those strange ads for Daniella's knickers. Also why doesn't Pat have an email address? vaughan45
"Old Rounder"! Jason Just checked and that's about all I have to offer!!! Maybe its only open to continuous roundy rounds and not one of those fiddleyard to terminus things. Knickerbocker Glory Definition - Layers of ice cream sitting on top of fruit, nuts, ice cream beautifully presented in a tall glass with fruit sauce, clotted cream or whipped cream and topped with a cherry and wafer. t8hants
Each week the loosing layout will be smashed in front of its creators eyes, their treasured locos and rolling stock hurled by giant catapult into the canal of despair, until finally standing proud in its isolation, the winning layout, to be given amid much simpering humility to a tear stained orphan. Which it is later reveled in a red top exspose was the producers son in disguise. Edited February 14, 2018 by t8hants

S.tirrer Can you clarify what parts are unsuitable for not shining a light? However, if a light can be used, which type would you recommend as you obviously have something against lights? Incidentally I think it is inappropriate for you to discuss Daniella's undergarments on an EMWeb thread. Ann Tagonist

Ann Tagonist Well I hate some lights - bright LED ones that turn GWR green into SR Malachite (that's not a proper green you know), energy saving lights that give me a migrane Then there are some of the characters you see at exhibitions - would you want them moving in next door, let alone being in my drawing room on television And its RMWeb not EMWeb Really!!! EMWeb is the elite section of that RMWeb. Have you not recognised that before? Try Sexpavers and get some new lenses. Why do you mention characters at exhibitions? Are you suggesting something? I am a character and I rarely go to exhibitions as i think they are elitist affairs for southerners. Finally, what is wrong with Malashite Green? Are you also a SR denier? P_lease desist and go back to your armchair. A. Notherplonker

Ann Tagonist And another thing, I just looked at your SOS Junction thread and see it's adorned with double entendres and photographs of ladies - I certainly do not think that that is appropriate for a model railway forum, So who do you think you are complaining about my comment? I thought you were a southerner as you model the SR - wasn't that just a electric tramway into London? Also surprised that there would sufficient members who could quality for an elite section! Peter Crawford
What do these media folks think they're playing at? Anything televised 'distorts' people's impression of something. For example, all these spy films neglect to show the more mundane tasks and jobs, such as paperwork. Equally, competitions such as Masterchef genuinely fail to be an accurate representation of what cooking is about. Most of these shows have 'rounds', 'sudden death', 'time limits' and 'points' which are simply non-existent in the model world, unless you've set up a deadline yourself. In short, it raises the wrong kind of awareness. And how do you define talented? Layouts come in many different shapes and sizes. The Sherwood Section was a great example of an 'operator's railway', whilst something like 'The Summit' might me renowned for good scenery. It's possible to have a 20' x 8' layout with just plain track at the front, with a scratchbuilt viaduct, and just a couple of loops in the fiddle yard. Equally, a 'great layout' could be filled to the brim with sidings, loops etc. How will they judge it? Jeff Smith
Had a look at their website, interesting but very slow where I was viewing it from. Claims to be a charitable organization but owns some zany shows. It would be interesting to know more about the show's format and the timescales to complete each challenge. Cooking shows like Masterchef only take a condensed few hours.

MarcD
I thought about it but then the brain kicked into gear. If I wasn't keeping the wife on side, running a model making business, building a Cameo layout, finishing another layout for Bristol and Warley (NEC) shows and having dealings with the last lot I might have considered it. Guest
Ooh! By the same production company that gave us "Celebrities in Therapy" and "Louie Spence - Taxi Driver". I don't know when it will be on but I'm pretty sure I'll be off-grid with my head buried in the sand...
