PatB
When Australian sporting teams lose they tend to disappear for a while. I first noticed this with the 2003 Rugby World Cup and observed it again with various Ashes losses. I have come to suspect there is some remote desert gulag to which they are all sent for reeducation.

Ozexpatriate
Having a Christmas birthday would be no fun. I know two people born a week earlier - that is close but it seems to be not too bad. The worst seems to actually be the January babies. I know of two and both say their birthday celebrations suffered much from post-holiday deflation. My son has a friend born on New Year's Eve. He has a big birthday party every year.
