This was a few weeks ago ... ... and this is now. I wasn't fully satisfied with the shape at the bottom - the start of the squashed in section was a bit too harsh, compared to the other end (middle right). So, I repositioned a couple of the wall pieces and replaced the last one to suit, before grafting on a sliver to the roof in that area. I think it looks better balanced now? However, I suspect you more readily noticed the white paint round the ring of the turntable pit! Well, that was an idea I had and I think it makes a difference. Shows up well in the mirror? Anyhow ... shed's a bit fuller now. Just needs the perspex cover for the central area then it should all be protected from dust and any detritus. How good's your loco recognition skills? It's up and running as a functional roundhouse. Time to have a bit of fun with my favourite loco type by way of celebrating. An improbable gathering - the last blue Duchess went green before the first red Duchess appeared ... but - hey - rule 1 and all that. The red 'un is my Model Loco 46251, of some 30+ years vintage, returned from Aberdeen for the show season. See her running at Gaydon in 10 days time, all being well. The other two, however ... Recently acquired at ridiculously low auction prices. Both DJH examples, beautifully built and painted, powered by Portescaps. This is the first of the 'City's, the now preserved 46235. I think I'll leave her in this condition, as least for the time being. Did I say 'beautifully built'? Great if you're happy with them only running in a straight line. Well, both wouldn't actually move at all as the Portescaps were seized up solid. This blue vision has been taking the cure: a quick squirt of GT85 attended to the motor; files have attacked the parts that prevented corners being negotiated and she now runs to my satisfaction. She's also part way through an identity change: 46243 is unique as being the only streamlined example that bore a BR number so that'll be the condition I'll do that one in; this one will become 46237, which also wore blue with a sloping smokebox. With a fair wind, she might make Gaydon as well. First attempt at roundhouse views. Just using camfone for now - really need to have a go with proper camera. Possibly prefer this one slightly, although from this viewpoint locos are a bit too obviously near the table, making it look a bit too crowded. Perhaps? In practice, provided they're clear of the white areas, all is well operationally. Onwards and upwards.
