THE PATRIOTS • A PICTORIAL RECORD • VOLUME ONE • 45500–45525
Submitted by gav106 on 3 June, 2018 - 09:49
This new fund-raising pictorial book contains many previously unpublished photos of this much missed class of locomotive. Contained in its 120 pages are over 100 superb monochrome and colour photos which span four decades from introduction to the LMS in the 1930s to the demise of the entire class in the 1960s, all capturing the Patriot class in its original parallel boiler form as designed by Sir Henry Fowler. All profits from the book will go directly towards the completion of The Unknown Warrior.

And it's worth noting for Australian purchasers, that Kernow have confirmed they do not have the turnover level required to trigger compliance with our new GST law - so they will not be collecting 10% from you.  Hattons have advised they will be.  No news from Rails.

Today’s Kernow deal

http://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/60285/K9986-Bachmann-Class-47-Midland-Counties-with-HST-Barrier-Coach

Though just to point out..

“ When these coaches were re-numbered this was carried out by a quick paint job over the original number and this as been recreated with the tampo printing on this model.”

I had one of these over printed coaches earlier this year and it wasn’t to my taste, it might be more convincing / appropriate on a barrier vehicle.

What is this 'new GST' law?  Hope it doesn't mean that i will have to pay GST when buying from Canada.  The elimination of the GST has always made UK purchases attractive because it effectively covered the cost of postage.

It's an Australian thing. There is a separate thread about it

No, it's just our Government here in Oz - trying to close a loophole on low value imports not being taxed, by demanding international vendors collect 10% GST for them if they do more than $75,000 p.a. annum in trade with Australia.

Thank goodness it is just an Australian thing but please keep it quiet as much as possible.  Our fiberal government under Mr. Apologiser might get more ideas.  Also, thanks for small mercies, those the Thompsons are in LNER livery.  Had they been in BR my wallet would have magically opened.

But the ALDI one comes with an airbrush, which looks extremely like a Badger!

The £343 one gives you an airbrush as well! :jester:

I was pointing out that it seems to be a generic device that is sold widely, so spares should be easily available (Aldi usually keep them anyway)

With Airbrush going to give it a try.

Keep posting on how you get on with this airbrushing kit. I've today managed to locate and obtain one myself (had to visit 3 Aldi shops before finding any in stock!) and am interested as a complete & total novice at this painting malarkey.

There is a Australian chap on youtube who has reviewed the airbrush from aldi and he is complimentary about it in a very antipodean way.

Did he have trouble with the gravity feed cup spilling paint because we're all upside down here?

I'll get my coat...
