We have not had a soaking rain since the first week of July. * Based on average temperature. Thankfully we had a wetter than average La Niña Spring which, for the summer, took us out of any drought status. Even in my limited sphere of travels earlier this year (with various lockdowns and restrictions), we managed to get to Echuca on the Victoria/New South Wales border in January and June, staying with friends on the outskirts. The record keeping in question might only be since the official reporting location was moved to the airport in 1938 from locations closer to downtown. Even failing that, no measurement records exist until 1870. Measurements apparently began in 1858, but were not preserved. The trend however is pretty clear. Thermometers predate photography by around 200 years.
