RMweb Premium Hal Nail Posted September 13 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 13 (edited) The 16T has progressed to transfers (in this case Clasp that I got off ebay). I've just redone the stripe on the back of this photo as it was a bit low at the top end. Interesting how different the gloss sides look to the matt end. I'm also doing a simple repaint of one into grey as a test bed for weathering. My normal method would remove the enamel top coat so I might try putting lacquer on to see if that seals it - I didn't want to risk it on this conversion, which I might leave pretty clean anyway. RMweb Premium Hal Nail Posted 13 hours ago Author RMweb Premium Share Posted 13 hours ago (edited) 3 minerals nearing completion - ironically given spare instanters are like gold dust, I dont think I've got any spare 3 links. Two started as Gaugemaster bauxite weathered. One was sanded back to faded bauxite then re-weathered using a mix of artists acrylic umber and games workshop Typhus Corrosion, allowed to dry then partially worked back off. Replacement vac pipes are Dapol bogie bolster spares. The other Gaugemaster one was completely stripped, aerosol primed and then brush painted grey. The third is my pressed steel end door variation - these two rather show up my Dapol blue grey ones now! The bauxite one would only have been retro fitted by BR from '66, so to be this rusty would suggest early 70's, which isn't ideal as that's about the only period I don't model! The other two will probably stay fairly clean other than the odd wash whenever I have leftovers: late 50s minerals weren't generally in that bad nick - in fact some would still be new I think. edit. Some of the of the tares I've seen in photos are a bit suspicious. A fitted one surely can't weigh less than an unfitted?!
