Free At Last
I saw new white platform edge lines were being manually installed yesterday. They came in a tin and were stuck down with a hand operated brush. Edited January 26, 2018 by Free At Last

woodenhead
Good timing, answered my own question Running round Prepped for a propelling move back onto the main by the looks, end of shift for the driver though, engine off, doors locked and off he went on foot. I think he left a fitter in the engine room listening to the sounds coming off the locomotive since the engine was turned off Edited January 31, 2018 by woodenhead

Boris
Is there some nocturnal activity at Grosmont, seems to be a [air of headlights at the end of the platform grosmont.JPG Jim No, its either snow falling or crap on the camera I'm afraid. Keep an eye out tomorrow to see a 25 on some autoballasters, a 26 doing an ECS and an 08 doing some shunting.
woodenhead
The lights were there last night too. Is there a foot crossing at the end of the platform that is lit - normally you wouldn't see that far down the platform because stock is left on the platform overnight but due to the ballasting work it's been pushed back into the sidings. Definitely nothing moving down there, and the AWR lights are out of sight behind the column. I think the right hand "light" is a reflection from the circled reflective sign, not sure about the left hand one, could well be off one of the other ones down there. luckymucklebackit
The "lights" are in the same place again tonight, must be a reflection or a flaring right enough. Just shows you how folk start to see things that are not there. Jim

Zomboid
What's going on that needs autoballasters? Is it NYMR or on the NR line?
Boris
What's going on that needs autoballasters? Is it NYMR or on the NR line? We've been using DBS for ballast drops for several years now, autoballasters recently or seacows in the past. Prior to that ballast was brought into the PW yard at Pickering by lorry, which then had to be loaded into our wagons taken up to site and dropped. The problem being we could drop about 100 tons of ballast on site per train, and we've just dropped 20 autoballasters worth (1000ish tons?) so you're talking 10 lots at least of loading our wagons and taking back to site to drop. We've dropped that 1000 tons (probably more) in about 4 hours exactly where we need it, which could take a couple of weeks doing it ourselves. It allows the Moors to relay more rail over the same closed period, they've managed just over 1 1/4 miles since the 3rd January. There have also been supply problems at Pickering this year getting ballast in for various reasons. If you ignore all the Marketing drivel the NYMR has some really good sections on its blog written by the Civil Engineer explaining what's going on. https://www.nymr.co.uk/Blogs/blog
Tug002
Look out I've got FOURTEEN from Friday: First up,some 08 action at 0947: 9mins later it's in the far platform: 1017: 1145: 1201:the ballaster is in! It's the Shed! 20 seconds later, the lights have been switched round(had to crop this one): At 1211: Two minutes later, the orange squad (and a rat - anyone seen it?) And again - with the rat more noticeable: 08 back again: DMU arrives at 3pm: And again: And lastly...66 and 101:unlikely bedfellows,eh? That was my bit - and I think I must be the first person to post 14 pics in one hit on this thread - more than anyone else.
