Ed-farms
Hi Tony I attended the show this year and it was great. I have a currently under construction N Gauge layout which will reside in South Wales and 2 OO Gauge layouts - a shed and a branch line - that can come down from the north east of England if you want any - though we can only bring 1 as they share controllers and operators. The N gauge will be at Pontypool this weekend and Pontypridd in November if you want to see it in the flesh. Let me know if you need want any more details on any layout. Hi sorry, I missed your post last week. I was unable to attend the Pontypool event last week as I was on a school reunion and the beer took its toll! I'd be happy have your layout at the show and will be at the Museum Show in November too. I'll drop you a pm. Thanks Tony

I'm organising it Ian so come and say hello. I even have to miss a Cardiff City game that day, because we book the hall a year in advance....before the fixtures come out. Piemanlarger
No O gauge layouts?? Edited February 18, 2018 by Piemanlarger
valleymodeller
No O gauge layouts?? Sadly no, I can't seem to find any! We have two HO and two N and one HOe but trying to find a small O gauge one seems to be beyond me. No one has offered one and we'd have to have a smallish one otherwise we'd have to have fewer layouts. The O gauge show is in Newport the week before , so maybe I'll find a local one for next year. (And they're no having any N , HOe or HO so it balances out!) We have 15 layouts planned for £3 entry, plus some demos and 2 traders (Plus Tallyllyn, and club sales stand). Not sure how I am going to fit them all in yet. Tony
Piemanlarger
Dave Roberts has a nice small O gauge layout. Think it's about 8ft I may well have one mysrlf by the end of March, but mine might be 12ft.
valleymodeller
Just an update to say the Crossley Scrapyard is appearing instead of Shepcote Lane. Both are owned by Baz Jones of Western Valley MRS. A couple of photos below.

bazjones1711
I never did find out what fab meant on thunderbirds, give us a clue Tony. Ken The Thunderbirds' radio code "F-A-B", meaning "message received and understood", didn't stand for anything, it was just supposed to sound "hip". In fact, when asked what it stood for, Gerry Anderson once replied, with some bemusement, "Fab," as though it were obvious.

It actually means Funbderbirds Are Best! Maybe next year I could do a Thunderbirds themed layout? I bet you've got Tracy Island. Baz is right though , it means nothing. I bet he Googled it just like I just have.

valleymodeller
The Show is only 6 days away now. All layouts confirmed ( just need to fit them all in). A few of the exhibitors were at the Port Talbot Show yesterday, but will be bringing different layouts to our show. The only one that was in port talbot was 79A a steam shed scene in the snow by John Gooding, and very nice it is too, with a very impressive working turntable at slow speed. Hope to see many RM Web members there. Tony

valleymodeller
10 layouts have been set up tonight, and the tea bags and bacon has arrived on site! We await 4 more layouts early tomorrow morning plus our two traders, Lord & Butler and MIB Models. Not sure how the weather will turn out, it's forecast a few showers early on and warming up in the afternoon. I'm not sure whether fine weather is good for our attendance, or rain, or a mixture. You just never can tell how it will turn out on the day. We've postered local model shops, and given out 1000 fliers (compared to 500 last year), and it's been in the model press and on some local Facebook pages. So I hope we get a decent turnout of visitors to help swell the club's funds. Of the layouts that have set up so far there is some excellent quality there, in HO, OO, N and Hoe. There may be few noisy US and Canadian sound effects tomorrow. We've just put out a large number of books and DVDs next to the entry desk which are available for £1 each, (£2 0r £3 for the boxed sets). So come along and grab a bargain and see some great layouts on the day. Edited April 21, 2018 by valleymodeller
RMweb Gold tomparryharry Posted April 21, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 21, 2018 Popped into the Pontypridd show today. It seemed very well attended, with a good mix of layouts and trade stands. with seating available when you needed to have a bite. Some names I was able to put names to the faces. Up until now, it was just RM Web community. As usual, I just had a bit of 'serious looking at'. The wagon weathering on Sheepwash Lane was pretty spot-on, just what I needed for inspiration! Cheers, Ian.
