RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted June 12, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 12, 2017 (edited) An empty yard by 2006. All sidings track has now been lifted and is a site compound for constructing the new platform 0. The shunters office is still there though. I do have more photos with stock in these sidings but not quite sure where they are if they have been scanned in. Thanks, I would be interested in any more photos. I visited Redhill today, took photos and measured some public side details. I was aware of the changes but still much to see, and in the flesh has opened my eyes to lots of things I can model. I had forgotten there was a subway under the Up Yard too. Cheers.
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted June 13, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 13, 2017 (edited) I will see what photos I have but suspect they are slides that are yet to be scanned in. Will post more when I find them. That subway is our shortcut to our favourite pub in town from the station of an evening.I will see what photos I have but suspect they are slides that are yet to be scanned in. Lyddrail
I thought the subway might have been very useful. Some pictures from yesterday's site visit. The yard now used for site offices etc. View from the footbridge, new platform under construction. Houses access road which I can model. The bit of the station car park I can include. I have never built a layout and done the name sign before laying the track! This was from scalemodelscenery but I didn't use the raised letters, but hand painted the laser outlines. Cheers.
Bungus the Fogeyman
No wonder you're stuck for space at Lyddrail ....what with Andy Porter and now you. 4'8" has been very liberally interpreted Disgusting of Market Harborough

However, it would have lost much of the prototype features. I have only increased the length by 15.5 inches. I am stuck for space but I will have to choose a couple of layouts to go outside!! Cheers. dasatcopthorne
Dave, I would be grateful for any photos as I have been taking some off facebook but anything else would help. The yard especially but passing trains of interest too. Thanks. Paul. Paul. Tried to find you a selection. Hope they help. Others not scanned are Gat Ex, 2 & 4 Epb bulleid emus standing in for MLVs and or course, every shade of MLV plus the Tonbridge mails. Dave

theplasticbrummy
Morning Paul, This is looking like a cracking plan! The photos being shared are great and I can see why you've chosen this location to model with the variety of wagons you will be able to use. Your base boards look like a good start (I'm glad to see that you've built your own). I would just have the whole thing up Paul, as it will be more interesting to operate - Don't take any notice of Peter Perfect of Market Harborough, after all "Size doesn't matter" eh? Now I've had a dig back at Tailby, I have a question................................................... Is it DCC? Good luck. Cheers, Andy.

Lyddrail
Dave, thanks a lot, very nice pics. It is as if you chose wagons etc that I have or already planned. Plus some surprises too. Really helpful. Andy, don't ask silly questions, you know where I stand on DCC!! Laid cork today, track tomorrow. Cheers.
Bungus the Fogeyman
Still building my track......Actually Mr Wide, this looks an interesting subj. I'm sure you could have got it into 4'8" though! Lol. Disgusting of Market Harborough

sf315
Re the TTA Just noticed the chimney and pole looks like they're coming out of the top of the wagon. I've got a spare Bachman TTA think this is a possible model without the extra top fittings. Steve.
Lyddrail
Track is now almost completed. Below are pics of yesterdays works. Am I using the wrong type of track pins? Cheers.
cobbler
Are they smarties holding track down ? RC
sf315
Are they smarties No it's a new concept in stud pickup. The last time Mr Wade built a layout this was the type of pick up in regular use on layouts.
cobbler
Wondered if they are markers for magnets for the Kadee couplers ?? RC
The Bigbee Line
It's a code for shunting. Paul will shake a packet of smarties and add one to each wagon. You've then got to shunt to suit the markers.
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted June 18, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 18, 2017 (edited) A few shots of the shunters office. I should have better photos of this but again they are probably on slides. Edited June 18, 2017 by roundhouse

That's a good idea. Really I have glued the track down for the first time using drawing pins while the PVA sets. Track is just about finished including the fiddle yard. Will start electrics tomorrow. Cheers. Paul.
Lyddrail
Paul Looking really good mate. and thanks Dave for sharing the pics with us. the yellow TTA is an interesting one. thanks Steve Steve, Tank is a Chipman wagon, in the pics the new cantilever light columns are being installed (see Grampus wagon pic), looks like concrete being made on site, tank being used for the water.
