RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted November 21, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 21, 2019 A couple of the Tmf2/2’s have gone yellow. Whether this upgrade is across the fleet or some are transferring to the works department I’m not sure.  https://www.bahnbilder.de/bild/schweiz~rhaetische-bahn~dienst--und-rangierloks/1167428/der-tm-22-89-ist-der.html

Glorious NSE
The 2019/20 passenger timetables are now visible here if you search for locations: https://www.fahrplanfelder.ch/de/willkommen.html First glance doesn't look much different to 2018/19. * No sign of any Capricorn-inspired timetable changes this year (though that's probably not too surprising.) * Davos-Filisur 'heritage' turns are still there. * This years Chur-Ilanz summer Sunday tourist diagram now runs summer Sat/Sun/Public holidays. Graphic timetables are not up yet. 2

RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted March 16, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 16, 2020 (edited) RhB update: The Federal Council and the canton of Graubünden decided today to take further measures to contain the corona virus. The Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) has issued, among other things, orders for public transport in Switzerland. Regular public transport continues to operate according to the timetable. The tourist traffic, extra trips and historical trips are stopped. Group trips are canceled. Dining cars and catering services are also prohibited on the trains. In implementation of these instructions, the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) will stop operating the Bernina Express on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Charter and adventure trips will also be canceled. From then on, the Glacier Express also stops operating. These measures are expected to apply until April 26, 2020. The freight transport of the Bündner Güterbahn is not affected by these measures.  Edited March 16, 2020 by PaulRhB Add RhB page shot

If you modelled the shunter on the front of the wagon and put it on a layout at exhibition you'd have people making a few comments about 'Elf and Safety'!  Simon
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted April 24, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 24, 2020 Translated off the RhB website:  The Rhaetian Railway (RhB) will renew its shunting locomotive fleet in the coming years. On 3 September 2018, it signed the purchase agreement for seven new shunting locomotives with Stadler Bussnang AG. The order volume amounts to 21.5 million Swiss francs. The new vehicles are expected to go into operation in 2020. In return, eleven old shunting vehicles can be retired. The procurement was carried out in close cooperation with the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGBahn), which has also ordered two new shunting vehicles of this type. In this way, synergies were exploited and procurement costs reduced by around 1 million Swiss francs. The two railways are innovative in their procurement: the new shunting locomotives are electric-battery hybrid vehicles. They are primarily electrified. If they are used in construction work when the overhead contact line is switched off, in the event of a line interruption or in non-electrified tracks, the auxiliary drive is used. Lithium-ion batteries have now been developed to such an extent that they are also an appropriate alternative to the previous diesel or dual-powered locomotives with diesel and electric drive for shunting vehicles on the railways as an auxiliary drive. The auxiliary battery drive is more environmentally friendly and cost-effective. So far, there are only a few two-force locomotives that have a comparable battery auxiliary drive. With this procurement, the two railways and Stadler Rail are taking a pioneering role. At the same time, the new vehicles will also significantly reduce noise and exhaust emissions. The order for the shunting locomotives was awarded to Stadler Bussnang AG. The new vehicles will be put into operation from spring 2020. The order volume amounts to 21.5 million Swiss francs. The eleven shunting locomotives that are being retired have reached their intended service life. The most frequently used vehicles became increasingly prone to interference and maintenance. They would have needed a comprehensive refit. However, despite this measure, operating and maintenance costs could not have been significantly reduced. Technical data of the new shunting locomotives Drive Weight 30 t Max start-up force adhesion 75 kN Power on the wheel (permanent) electrical 500 kW Power on the wheel from traction battery 200 kW Max towing load at 0 to 2 500 t Max towing load at 35 microns (Albula) 150 t Max towing load at 45 microns (Prettigau) 100 t Max towing load at 60 microns (Chur-Arosa) 70 t Max speeds • Electric 80km/h • from traction battery 40 km/h Wheel diameter new/old 810/740 mm Brakes • Direct shunting brake • Electric commercial current brake (recuperation into the mains or battery) • Automatic brake vacuum and compressed air • Spring storage parking brake Brakes, recuperation -800 kW Brakes, charge traction energy -200 kW  1

RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted May 27, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 27, 2020 Personally I prefer the slightly more ‘aggressive’ styling of the Allegra it’s got a bit more character.
