Narrow (3'6") and standard gauge.

Odakyu 1000 series EMU on a Hakone-Odawaru service at Iriuda in April 2017

The standard gauge is the access line to the depot at Iriuda for the standard gauge stock that runs Hakone-Gora.

More trackage other than Stephenson's standard gauge please. (Although mixed with it is OK!)

Cheers,

Mick

Can't post it here (copyright) but there is a great end-of-line photo on Wikipedia if you look up Argentine railways.

It is of a turntable at the concourse end of a terminus which has three tracks on it. So a loco can be turned on the centre road and depart again on the centre road or a loco on one of the platform roads can be turned and depart on the other platform road.

Maybe not much use on the viewing part of a UK prototype layout, but a great spacesaver in a fiddleyard.

All the photos on Wikipedia are either in the public domain or are covered by Creative Commons copyright, so there no restrictions on posting on RMWeb. Even if there were restrictions it would be polite to post a link so that we knew what you are talking about.

I have tried to find it again - but no luck so far.

Edit: Got it!

One for Joseph, perhaps - but a long way from Buenos Aires.

Esquel - looking very much the end of the line on a typically beautiful Patagonian Spring morning.

Keep 'em coming: this is not the end of the end of the line, not even the beginning of the end...

Terminus station on the Lahaina, Kaanapali and Pacific Railroad in Lahaina, Maui.

The loco has arrived on the train on the left, coupled off, run onto the planked turntable, turned and will now run round on the righthand track and couple on to the other end of the train to leave.

Closer to home, the end of the line at Pembroke Dock.  1B01 Swansea-Pembroke Dock arrives 01Sep18, which would then work to Paddington, with just one Saturday after this for summer Saturday HST haulage.  A sad vestige of the Pembroke Coast Express.

Bringing it up to date.  Today (25May) saw the start of Summer Saturday services to Pembroke Dock.  With the HST's now a memory 800.019 operated 1B01 Swansea-Pembroke Dock and 1L62 PMD-PAD being the first of its type to operate service trains here.
