I was asked by the station staff to take this one.

Honest. Lurking in the gents with a camera was not my idea.

Following the previous photo, can I put forward the suggestion of railway food?

Whilst not on a train, here's my breakfast at the station buffet at Kidderminster. Sorry if I'm making anyone hungry.

The only reason I went to the bother of creating a collage of Oxford station food outlets (that is an Oxford collage not an Oxford college) is that I belonged, for a while, to a group on another site that shared photos of pubs, restaurants and other eateries.

It doesn't look like any one has an appetite for food! Let this one take us from food into Museums - railway museums or railway exhibits in transport or general museums or have we done that before?

Can anyone tell me what the purpose of the two smaller hooks and chains were on the bufferbeam?

Jim

They were known as "safety chains", and were intended to stop vehicles from turning/rolling about the axis of the main screw coupling in the event of a derailment.
