eastwestdivide
As Paul Simon said, everybody loves the sound of a train in the distance: I'm standing above Denby Dale viaduct, and The Tin Bath excursion is somewhere near Silkstone Common, the other side of Penistone. Next, another distant shot please?
RMweb Gold phil_sutters Posted April 17, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 17, 2018 I am not sure whether this has been used before, but it should fit the brief More distant shots please.

John ks
Jilalan depot near Sarina South of Mackay Nth Queensland taken in the mid 80's The black lines are coal trains headed to Hay Point for unloading & this is a view from the ground If I remember correctly these trains had 3 Diesel locos at the front & 3 locos mid-train & were a mile long This was at the time that Electric locos were being introduced to replace the diesels on coal trains 5 25kV electrics would replace 6 diesels In 2025 Aurizon moved a record 11,000 tonnes of coal in a 2.3 kilometre train with 136 wagons (avarage train 100 wagons) Remember that this is on 3' 6" gauge More of the same , from an aircraft if you got them John

cal.n
I reckon it's a 156. Cheers, Mick I reckon it’s a 158. When was it taken? 156s haven’t run the forth circle or Dundee/Aberdeen trains in a long while (since British Rail?). Traction is now 170s, 158s, 220/1s or HSTs. If it’s 2 car, it’ll be a 158. There is also seems to be a larger gap between the inside doors and the inside unit ends, which is non existent on a 156, but visible on a 158. RMweb Premium newbryford Posted April 19, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 19, 2018 There were requests for a distant shot from a plane. In this case a DH2 Beaver floatplane Vancouver Harbour with the Island Princess and Volendam moored at Canada Place. A Vancouver skytrain is visible below the Island Princess More train stuff in the distance on the north side of the harbour - the yellow pile is sulphur that is brought in by the trainload for export (a pic of this has appeared before in this thread) Cheers, Mick

eastwestdivide
Three days ago I requested a distant shot, and surprisingly no-one's done this: Wellingborough area, 1985. 2x20s on Redland hoppers I think
RMweb Gold Metr0Land Posted April 20, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 20, 2018 If you go to Ireland you could have a distant shot at home at the same time. Not sure if any are left. This was Annacotty in 2008 on the Limerick-ballybrophy line so may still be there.
