RMweb Gold TheSignalEngineer Posted September 21, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 21, 2017 Not much of a shot but a record of a historic event. The last two trains of the normal service stand at the blocks at Birmingham Moor Street on the last day before the new through platforms were commissioned. Following the departure of these two trains the last train was hauled out by Clun Castle.

bingley hall
Sadly a dearth of buffer stop shots in my collection...........these were both taken around February/March 1989. Nice quirky subject too. Edited September 21, 2017 by bingley hall
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted September 21, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 21, 2017 Eurostar 373s at the stops in St Pancras buffer 3.jpg Now a bit of history as AFAIK they are all withdrawn from this service Keith There are still 373 sets in traffic - at present there have to be as they are the only Eurostar trains able to call at Ashford

RMweb Gold phil_sutters Posted September 21, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 21, 2017 (edited) Not my photo so only a link - but these buffers seem to have celebrity status - http://www.burnham-on-sea.com/news/2015/buffers-installed-15-07-2015.php. The real things are just about visible in this print of Dad's. Originally they weren't there as the track ran down onto the jetty, as can be seen from the gradient post in the final photo in the linked article. bingley hall
Five GM G12B export model locos were originally built between 1955-57 by Clyde Engineering in Australia for the Kowloon Canton Railway - four of which were repatriated in 2005 by CFCL Australia for use as lease units in Australia. In June 2012 TL153 was seen waiting some TLC at CFCLA's Goulburn workshops, New South Wales, but has probably not turned a wheel since then. Currently stored in the open at Goulburn, unlikely to run again. UGL workshops at Broadmewadow, Newcastle, New South Wales on 4 July 2012 saw Xstrata (later Glencore) unit XRN022 in the final stages of construction. One of 30 model C44aci locos built by UGL for the multi-national coalminer for use on the Hunter Valley open access rail network, powered by a GE 7FDL four stroke V16 engine.
