OK then - a class 26 of any colour south of Carlisle.

I know that this subject has been overtaken by wild cards, and more overseas requests, so I shall not interfere in the progression; but a 26 south of Carlisle is a category that I can complete by rummaging in my drawers, although I cannot discover the photographer's identity.

D5318 at Kings Cross in May 1960.

Here is D1054 taken at Paddington in 1973.

And now, maybe a loco taken in Edinburgh

1973. Looks like there was lots of pride in the job - Not! That Western is in disgraceful condition considering it had 3 more years!

Wasn't there any water for the washing plant? :jester:

Don't think Swindon paint jobs on diesels were up to much and the stuff they used in the washers was a bit vicious.

I suppose they still thought there should be a King on the front! :jester:

The white staining is probably from the Exmover that was used in the wash plant.

How about a loco "in the works" but not your average open day shot.

Cheers,

Mick

An almost complete loco

I worked at Comeng in Brisbane for 3 years wiring these QR 3'6" gauge 25KV Electric locos

They are used to transport coal from mines to the port

Next how about a model you own & its prototype

Not sure what you mean, so here is my version of Falcon. A Silver Fox resin body on a modified Airfix Brush 2 chassis.

And the same loco, but in a different livery at Paddington.

If that is what you meant, can we have a train crossing over a river?

You can just about see the train  - you can just about see the river - one of Dad's pre-war photos.

Let's keep with bridges - has anyone got a railway photo including one or more of the Newcastle bridges?

Let's keep with bridges - has anyone got a railway photo including one or more of the Newcastle bridges?

How about these two:

The Metro Bridge with the King Edward behind.

(The third one is the Redheugh road bridge)

Taken from the Gateshead side.

Definitely Exmover staining - and extremely difficult to get off  (only a few carriage cleaning experts knew how to get it off as it was a two-stage process and it had to be done by hand and it was very hard work - and they didn't clean locos).

OK 24hrs and still nothing. I'm surprised there was nothing to see.

Lets open it up into:

Something unusual on narrow gauge in Mainland Europe

How about a Class 46 and 25 crossing at Ludlow racecourse? That's my good friend John Howles with his Austin Maxi - set up for some sound recording by the look of things

Traffic was never great here....to get a phot of trains crossing was an event

So for the next photo....lets have a 1960s/70s era freightliner train please
