Next - A station building

You didn't say how big the building had to be.....

Keeping with the buildings idea.

A platelayer's (or fog signalman or similar) hut.

Next: an observation car!

Jim

post-408-0-67319900-1494946018_thumb.jpg

975025 Caroline. Ex-SR General Manager's Observation Saloon, originally converted form a Hastings line DEMU buffet car.

So - keeping in with the conversion theme.

Something that is now being used for a purpose other than what it was originally built for.

Cheers,

Mick

Three coaches all not being used for their originally intended purpose...

Next, a steam/diesel double-headed combination...

A nice photo Waverley West.  Shame it's not a model.

Something that is now being used for a purpose other than what it was originally built for is still required

Do they have tension lock couplings on the real thing then? Look below the lamp on the buffer ;).

newbryford and JZ agree with you,   I think I am overruled so Next, a steam/diesel double-headed combination...

Just like to say that was a cracking photo from Waverly West, certainly had me fooled for a while.

Back on track. A double headed steam/diesel combo.

Diesels on the S&D I hear you say? Well, it's my S&D and those people from Swindon never got there grubby hands on it.

So, what shall we have next?

How about a failed first generation DMU being rescued by steam.

Did Dr Beeching close some model railways as well as real ones?  Or has nobody modelled a level crossing, busy or otherwise?

I'm just drawing up a possible layout plan with a level crossing of standard and narrow gauge tracks, but no road. I don't know if I'll build it yet, and it could be a long time before it's in a fit state for a photo. Apart from that, I've never had a level crossing on a layout!

I was going to post this for level crossing, but as it's already been up before.....

Wildcard.

How about a picture taken from a bridge?

As close as I could get.

How about a bus under a bridge.

Something borrowed is no problem for me, as I always had to borrow stuff to run on my exhibition layouts! This is Les Darbyshire's EM gauge East Kent Railway Kerr Stuart Victory class, running on my (GWR) Abbotsbridge in 1982. Its real home was his Kent & East Sussex Maidstone Road layout.

Next, a loco you've built yourself, either from a kit or from scratch.

Does a kitbash count? My PRR L1 before painting made with a Kato USRA mikado chassis a modified Minitrix decapod body with GHQ detailing parts, just needs a large USRA Bachmann tender.

I suppose it doesn't push the boundaries any more than some of my posts have ;).

Does anybody have a photograph of a model railway that includes a prototype locomotive?
