Morning @KNP doesn’t Richard at Everard junc use a Mig wash to run into the door frames? I’ve not tried that yet, but it might be a better option.

They certainly look good - my set of 6 are still in the box!

That thought - of using a Mig wash to create  definition around door frames - had occurred to me, as well . I’ve also used very diluted Matt black paint . At the right mixture , it will flash by capillary action along the incisions and leave pigment behind . The effect of a shadow in the frame rather than chocolate and cream creates a touch of realism in my opinion.

Where's the Surrey with the fringe on top?

Patience is a virtue.

Shh. It has to be "...set behind a team of snow-white horses" aka "...them high-steppin' strutters".  You know this is code for panniers in full steam with safety valves blowing, because of the Toad with "Two bright sidelights winkin' and blinkin'."

... Now to leave to dry but not entirely happy with the roof but will see what it looks like when dry.

IMHO, the roof does look better in grey. I don't know whether the full size originals would have had white or grey rooves but the white rooves by Dapol look too bright (and glossy) to my eye. If I keep mine white rather than repainting them grey I will definitely weather them.

I did some roof work in C&W (heritage railway volunteers) and saw how quickly they weather. At the moment the grey looks a bit uniform but as you say (almost) it's often different when dry.

That's impressive construction, streets ahead of the old stuff that's held together with clips moulded on the glazing or similar.

One shot fasteners are a pet hate of mine and one of the many reasons I don't tinker with modern cars.

Just too damn nerve wracking!!

Mig is one of the biggest producers of modelling paints, primarily aimed at military modelling but used across the hobby board.

Like many paint companies they have range of washes, i.e. liquids to add depth.

Mmmmmmmmmm. A lot depends how long the milk has sat in those wagons I think 🤔

Especially if Ernie drives the slowest milk train in the east.

A Terence Cuneo illustration in one of those old 1950s books on trains I thought.
