EddieB
Oddly enough, it might suit everyone's cause to retain Daniil dangling on a string. Torro Rosso have a ready-made third driver ready to step into the car at short notice, Daniil gets to stay in the F1 arena (and probably still earn the sort of salary in one season that most of us would aspire to in our working career) and F1/Red Bull/Toro Rosso get the benefits of the sponsorship that comes from the Russian washing machines and soap powder industry.
Andrew P
I think he's right, KR should have been let go ready for new young blood at the wheel. Flavio Briatore has questioned Ferrari's decision to keep Kimi Raikkonen for 2018, saying that it is "very difficult to win the constructors' title" with Raikkonen in the team. Andrew P
Going a bit to far, despite a lousy decision. Former F1 driver Mika Salo, who acted as the FIA drivers' steward in last weekend's US Grand Prix, says he has received death threats following the penalty handed to Max Verstappen. Andrew P
And so he should. Lewis Hamilton may be set for a knighthood in January if he clinches his fourth world title in Mexico on Sunday. Andrew P
Williams NEED a named / known driver with a reputation. Felipe Massa has questioned whether Robert Kubica could overcome the injuries he sustained in 2011 to drive for Williams next season. Massa, 36, has also expressed doubt about Paul di Resta's suitability for the role. (Motorsport) Edited October 26, 2017 by Andrew P
Andrew P
Oh no, not again! Daniel Ricciardo believes he will be starting next weekend's Mexican Grand Prix from the back of the grid after an engine issue put the Red Bull driver out of Sunday's US Grand Prix.(Planetf1) Edited October 26, 2017 by Andrew P
Andrew P
I agree. Mike Storey
Stable door somebody? But at least it is something more definitive. https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/fia-imposes-new-track-limit-rules-for-mexican-gp-970758
tamperman36
The issue of mechanical failures leading to drivers ending up with grid penalties is stupid. When D.R's engine blew last week, because he pulled up he will get a grid penalty yet if he'd crashed and required a new engine he wouldn't b be penalised. Surely a better idea would be to deduct points from the constructers for mechanical failures.

Max finishing in front of KR benefits Mercedes (specifically Lewis). I do wonder if he would be saying the same if Lewis had been passe and the red team were leading the championships? 34theletterbetweenB&D
They really don't like Max, do they!! Ridiculous. Rules are rules for all. Now, that's not saying the enforcement process doesn't require improvement. We have seen this developing in many other sports, where human 'line calls' have proven insufficient to manage the play. Motor sport will doubtless have to move in that direction; camera or sensor to make the call instead of a steward or three.

RMweb Gold 57xx Posted October 27, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 27, 2017 Interesting! http://www.espn.co.uk/f1/story/_/id/21171536/accusations-inconsistent-stewarding-unfounded "Leaving the track is not an offence in itself, but if a driver does so he must rejoin the track safely and without gaining any lasting advantage," Whiting said. "The lasting advantage part is important in this case because there was a number of other occasions when drivers left the track during the race, qualifying and practice that weren't formally looked at by the stewards because there wasn't a lasting advantage there." So what Charlie is saying then, is that if Vettal had ended up winning, they would have investigated him after the race for exceeding the track limits in order to complete his pass on Hamilton on Lap 1, turn 1?? Yeah right, pull the other one.
