Help needed. Hornby Class 56 Jumper cable replacement

Recommended Posts

Hi

I purchased 56013 from a member on here. And what a cracking model. I have just finished turning it into 56001.

However somehow at some point a part of the jumper cable gubbins has fallen off the front

(To be specific, as pointed out by tractor, one of the sockets is missing)

See here

Now I have found this for a 31...which perhaps I could hack about to get something appoximate

http://www.petersspares.com/Hornby-x5326w-class-31-detail-pipes-coupling-pack-weathered.ir

Not ideal

Also it seems that Hornby do do some spares such as

http://www.newmodellersshop.co.uk/images/hornby_spares/x9284.jpg

Does anyone know if they do the class56 jumper cable gubbins as a spare set, and if so where is the best place to locate it

Thanks

Steve

All that appears to be missing is the MW socket from the hole to the right of the headlight.

If you get one of these, (which maybe Class 50 parts)  just cut the cable off and fit the socket on it's own - it's not perfect but would look better than nothing.....

As an alternative, Shawplan does 4mm white metal MW sockets - that may also be an option.

If you can find some for sale the Heljan CL 47  Bufferbeam detail sprue which has the air pipes on also has some lovely moulded M/W sockets Which
I have used to detail my Bachmann CL20,24,25,37 and DRS 57 as well as my Heljan RFD 47 pair and will be using a set on an old Dapol CL56 I am Repainting.
Very useful little part that.

Cheers Trailrage

That sounds perfect.....thanks for the tip......now has anyone got one they want to sell me!

(I have just checked Howes but nothing going)

A few very helpfull people on here hunted out buffer beam detail for my damaged 47076...which was greatly appreciated

Here she is back fixed.

Steve

47 076 now looks like it was never damaged !

I still have your address details, I'll send you a couple of the Heljan MW fittings in the next couple of days - need any other small HJ bits ?

Regards

Ken

  • 3 weeks later...

A bit late to this party (fashionable donchaknow) but in my time as Editor of the C56G's newsletter I've been the recipient of hundreds of Grid images.

It isn't entirely unknown for a loco to lose a mw socket. I can only assume through carelessness parting multi coupled locomotives being one reason.

It isn't common, but I have seen examples, if I find the relevant and can garner the permission of the photographer, I'll post here.

I think the OP's 56 looks pretty cool without..!
