F-UnitMad
Guess who just had to go back & look for loose cobbles... What a neat detail.!!
Mike
As the fiddle yard board will have the canal arm and factories fronting it I've added albeit W.I.P. an additional view blocker. I have also decided to make the Old Park setup Harts Hill Iron and Harts Hill Iron Old Park. This will allow a narrow boat to be on the canal section as Harts Hill had their own boats an example of which is at the Black Country Museum.
Barnaby
Hello Mike. I'm looking to replace my garden shed 8x6 ft not my biggy modelling room 20x12 ft that one is all hunky dory, now where did that come from. Looking at your new shed it looks a good solid build any chance you could say where you bought it from. Looking in your posts I only see the grand opening by your grand children. It looks like the walls are t&g while the frame work looks substantial too just the sort of thing I'm after. it's not going to be another hobby room but for some of my garden tools etc as well as housing my R/C aircraft that haven't flown in 10 years now and probably won't again at least not by me. I still give the OS 4-stroke engine a flick every now and then as It has a lovely putter with a big prop on it. I'm hoping the internal benches will cosy fit into the new shed as at 30 years old it has served well. Best

Mike
The first of the canal side factory units, part constructed frontage the bottom of which will be down into the water. Just propped up on the bench with a black and white photo (plain paper quality) to guide the construction. Note the work area is not a tidy bench, just my usual mess. It will get tided once the glue has dried on a part of the layout where the building will eventually reside.
Barnaby
Is the tarp' or bent tin covering the porch roof going to be modelled too? Plenty of atmosphere available within that photo to model. Best Edited July 16, 2017 by Barnaby

Mike
Just to prove it's not all about bodging buildings, I've added some greenery above the wall.
Mike
Canal factory progress, all those nut-bolt-washer castings plus pipework, canopy will be added next and the sides/end/roof although the latter will have to wait until my order arrives from Cornwall Model Boats. Stripwood, Alaphatic and cyno glues.
Derbys65
Hi mike is the cobbled area slaters sheets?, apologies if it's been mentioned somewhere. Hope you're winning with your hand . Regards.
Mike
Hi mike is the cobbled area slaters sheets?, apologies if it's been mentioned somewhere. Hope you're winning with your hand . Regards. Sets are in fact Wills 4mm sheets which I think are about right for 7mm. The hand/arm/torso is still far from right and the Hospital clinic appointment is still about 5-6 weeks away, but it's onward and upward, nil desperandum.

Andrew Young
Catching up with your thread after a few weeks and both your cobbles and canal side factories both look splendid. It all oozes character with your Peckett simmering in the corner. Cheers, Andrew
Mike
Sides and roofs to finish and then on to a mammoth painting session Oh. forgot all the holes that need drilling for the bolt detail on the roofs and all the cleaning that needs doing.
F-UnitMad
For someone who hates making buildings, you don't half nail 'em, Mike!! That dilapidated canopy is just incredible!!
Mike
As the workshop(ahem) gentleman's retreat has the buildings and fiddle-yard for same under construction, I thought why not set the layout up and have a little play. Here is the result of a happy hour albeit somewhat restricted with no fiddle board:
Mike
The last of the canal side factories basic structure awaiting detailing. Not having a good day in the workshop as the hands are playing up, but I'm at least getting somewhere. Poor photo taken against the light with my phone.
Barnaby
Great atmospheric modelling Mike. Best PS. Good to read your article in the 0 gauge gazette too.
Mike
Just spent some time in the gentlemens retreat ( the workshop) drilling 180 small holes and fitting 180 straight pins to represent roof bolts. I really need to get out more or perhaps enjoy a large G&T instead. However, the buildings now need painting so maybe a large G&T is not such a good idea plus the fact my dermatitis is considerably worse.

Mike
Buildings for The WallowsThe basic painting is done but the final finishing and glazing will have to wait. The pins used were dress makers pins quietly removed from my wifes sewing basket, shhhh not a word. The corrugated card is to represent asbestos/cement boards hence the colour, Tamiya Deck Tan.
